In light of the current environment during the COVID-19 pandemic, here at STHCS, we have had to adjust the delivery of several of our programs. With stay-at-home orders and social distancing in effect, we adapted to how we are able to serve our rural community.
For our Cribs for Kids program, we are able to offer the safe sleep education as an online seminar. Previously, the education was delivered to crib recipients in person with them being able to take the Pack 'N' Play home with them following the training. Now, after completing the online training, we are able to ship a crib directly to the recipients home.
Additionally, through our Southern Tier Overdose Prevention Program which provides opioid overdose education and narcan, we are able to provide online training in order to ensure access to this program while also dealing with the pandemic.
Lastly, we have continued enrolling consumers on the NY State of Health marketplace by completing appointments over the phone. New Yorkers without health insurance can apply through NY State of Health through May 15, 2020 as the open enrollment period was extended.
