With everything that is going on, it’s easy to forget that blood donation is always needed.  We wanted to do something to help community members that wanted to donate.  To make that happen, STHCS  has entered into a partnership with ConnectLife  (formerly Unyts) to host bi-monthly blood drives in our training center. We have begun the bi-monthly drive in March 2020 at STHCS. The lastest was held on June 23, 2020.

 

Due to Coronavirus, there is a shortage of blood, and blood donations are urgently needed across New York State. All of the blood that ConnectLife collects stays local, helping nearly every hospital in Western New York’s eight counties. For every pint of blood donated, it can save the lives of three of our community members. Upcoming drives will be held July 7 and July 22. As a result of my Health Leadership fellowship through the Health Foundation for Western & Central New York, in 2016, STHCS introduced our Cribs for Kids program to Allegany, Cattaraugus, and Chautauqua counties. In that time, we have provided 481 cribs to babies in need of a safe sleep environment as well as trained 620 parents and caregivers in safe sleep education.

 

This program has been made possible by many different charitable organizations that have provided funding to purchase Graco Pack 'n Plays and fitted sheets for each recipient. We want to thank many of the organizations that have supported our program: East Hill Foundation; Zonta Club of Olean; Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo; Bethesda Foundation; Garman Family Foundation; Allegany County Area Foundation; Dr. Lyle F. Renodin Foundation; Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation and the Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation. Without their support, the program would not be possible.
