New single, Rasta's Paradise from Vernal Sage
When Jamaican singer Vernal Sage teamed up with one of reggae's music pioneer, Mr. Boris Gardner, he was so excited to work with him he said, "after my friend Norman aka Azee gave me six love in a domino game he concluded that it's best that I stick with making music. But he was a fan, impressed with my songwriting ability so he got me linked up with Boris, the rest was history, the man is a maestro!"

Vernal Sage, along with musician Donovan Lee Palmer from the Fab Five reggae band and Boris got together to launch their first project, a single entitled “Rasta’s Paradise” on Boris's Bronco Label.

In an interview with DJ Kat on Jamaica's KLAS FM station, Boris Gardner shared how he felt when he heard the song for the first time; he said, "I liked the song the first time I heard it and as I listened I said it's a nice song I just need to straighten out a few verses and submit the second set of lyrics, so he agreed with me and he went home and sat down and the next day he came with a new verse." Joking he added,  "I said I didn't know that he was a poet also!"

Rasta’s Paradise is the inspiration behind a book that was written by Caribbean Author K. Shawn Harris entitled, Reggae Superstar. Vernal Sage said, "It is a special request by the author himself to have the song written and recorded as ‘title track’ for the Reggae Superstar storybook content.

Vernal Sage hails from the parish of Westmoreland, in Jamaica, an old-schooler in music, his early musical influences were Ernest Wilson and Cocoa T, his neighbor, and friend from the district of Rocky Point in Clarendon where they both resided and where he harnessed his dream of becoming a Jamaican entertainer in his formative years.

Vernal Sage emerges once again onto the music scenes in June 2020, with his new single, Rasta's Paradise, a new music career, and, with new and exciting ventures to further indulge reggae music lovers. Click the icon to listen to the song... and enjoy!

ON AUGUST 15th
Featuring the renowned kids’ choir and Smith’s son Zion, these songs were recorded in LA at The Broad Stage in 2019. The album is distributed by Tuff Gong International.

Portland, OR --Aaron Nigel Smith will release his first live album, Aaron Nigel Smith & 1 World Chorus – Live in LA, on August 15th, 2020. (Aya World Productions), distributed by Bob  Marley’s label, Tuff Gong International.

Aaron Nigel Smith & 1 World Chorus – Live in LA, was recorded last year during a live performance at The Broad Stage in Santa Monica, CA. Smith had intended to add more live tracks during a show at Symphony Space in New York in March, but when the show was postponed, he decided that the Southern California performance offered enough inspiring music to share with his fans right away. “It seems like the right time to spread a little joy,” he says.

Aaron Nigel Smith & 1 World Chorus  – Live in LA captures a nostalgic and inspirational tone in a time when families crave the live performance experience. These represent some of the most popular songs that Aaron has recorded and performed over his 20-year career. features 25 talented youth from the Los Angeles wing of 1 World Chorus, including solo performances by Aaron’s son Zion Lion.

As Smith says, "These kiddos really show up in a positive and enthusiastic way. Their energy helps to create such a great vibe throughout the concert. It is also meaningful to document a performance where my son plays such a key role. It’s a proud poppa moment for sure.”
This is Smith’s 7th album. His most recent recording, In Our America debuted at #1 on the Billboard reggae charts. An educator and international touring musician known for his work on the Emmy Award-winning PBS KIDS TV show, Between the Lions, Smith is founder of 1 World Chorus, a non-profit organization serving youth in the United States, Kenya and Jamaica. Currently based in Portland, Oregon, Aaron has produced and released five albums for children, including 1 World Chorus Celebrates Bob Marley, a collaboration with Ziggy Marley’s Tuff Gong Worldwide. In 2017, Aaron was designated an Official Bob Marley Ambassador by the Marley Foundation. He has performed at venues ranging from Pickathon to Lollapalooza, with lots of schools and community groups in his regular touring schedule. This spring, he has produced weekly “Big Up Show” livestreamed music and movement videos for kids on YouTube and Facebook Live.

Reggae Legend Bunny Wailer Recovering from Second Stroke

Kingston, Jamaica – Reggae legend Bunny Wailer is in the hospital recovering after suffering a second stroke last week, his manager Maxine Stowe told South Florida Caribbean News. She says his condition is stable.

Stowe disclosed that the 73 year-old Wailer suffered the stroke on July 21 and has been hospitalized since.

Wailer, whose real name is Neville Livingston, has received extensive treatment in Jamaica and Cuba after his first stroke in late 2018. He has appeared at high-profile events to accept awards from the government and independent organizations.
He was awarded the Order of Jamaica in 2017 by the government. That is the fifth highest civic honor in the Caribbean country.

Known as Jah B, Wailer is the youngest of the three most famous Wailers, the others being Bob Marley and Peter Tosh who died in 1981 and 1987, respectively.
The group formed in the Kingston ghetto of Trench Town during the early 1960’s and included seven members. They had a number of hit songs in the ska and rocksteady eras such as Simmer Down, Lonesome Feeling and Thank You Lord.

After recording two albums (Catch A Fire and Burnin’) for Island Records in 1973, Wailer and Tosh left for solo careers. In 1976, Wailer released Blackheart Man, considered one of reggae’s seminal albums.

He has won three Grammy Awards for Best Reggae Album.

Uplifting Country-Reggae Single “Green Lights” Just Released from Songcrafter Gary Wertz aka ‘GRW’ Featuring Junior Toots — CLICK IMAGE TO WATCH IRIE VIDEO

Are you looking for a positive musical affirmation to start your day? The summer hit single, “Green Lights”, is just that. Written and performed by prolific singer/songwriter Gary Russell Wertz aka GRW (Grow without the ‘O’) and featuring Junior Toots (son of reggae legend Toots — of Toots and the Maytals), this song is an earworm… it just gets stuck in your head as it melds two genres: country and reggae in a perfect blend of feel good.

In 2020, as sh*t hit the fan, music fans were looking for upbeat music, something to help them clear their heads and to feel more hopeful. GRW’s response to this need was to write “Green Lights”, a precursor to the forthcoming album HYBRIDS on Aleada Records Label (reggae legend Marcia Griffiths’ son, Marcus Thompson).

Gary and his wife Lisa were formerly cannabis farmers for two decades in the reggae Mecca of Mendocino County in Northern California and deeply entrenched in the industry (Gary’s wife, Lisa, was the mama that helped birthed the renowned Emerald Cup). This gifted musician, Gary Wertz, relocated his family to Tennessee, to an 18th Century farmstead they call Sacred Dog Ranch & Recording Studio. They consider themselves ‘climate refugees’ having had to leave their beloved farm in Northern California to escape ongoing wildfires. It is here, just west of Nashville, that Gary combined two kinds of roots: Americana-Country roots with Jamaican roots music to create “Green Lights.”

Jamaican-born Junior Toots has a genuine commitment to socially conscious lyrics and a determination to express himself sincerely from within. This passion can be felt through his deeply soulful vocal style that is reminiscent of his father, renowned reggae artist Toots Hibbert, of the Toots and the Maytals.

“Green Lights” is available for purchase on iTunes for .99 and is also available to stream on Spotify and several other platforms (https://linktr.ee/GRW).

This ‘country-ragga’ or ‘mountain reggae’ tune offers something for everybody; you can roll up your fatty or do practice your yoga to it; an all-around, uplifting summer soundtrack.

Listen yourself; you’ll be hooked!
