This past week, I was able to attend the meeting of the Western New York Regional Trauma Advisory Committee (RTAC) virtually. ECMC hosted the meeting, and we were able to receive important updates from the regions Trauma Centers, ECMC, and Oishei Children's Hospital.

 

The Pediatric Emergency Preparedness Seminar was also discussed, which is a virtual webinar series that will provide a broad overview of potential care needs for the pediatric patient involved in an emergency/disaster situation. The series will include information for medical, trauma, and crisis response specific to the most vulnerable population in an emergency event, children. I just wanted to remind everyone that Today, September 11, is Patriot Day. It marks the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the attempted attack on the Capitol that was stopped by the heroes of Flight 93. This day was created to remember the 2,977 Americans who lost their lives on that day and to honor the actions of the brave men and women from the emergency services and the military who sacrifice to protect our homeland. Please take a moment to remember the victims and their families as well as the continuing efforts and sacrifices made by many to keep continue keeping America safe.
