|Cold nighttime temps are coming! Predictions are calling for 44 degrees on Saturday night and 39 degrees on Sunday night. Ouch. It is time to bring your houseplants inside. Houseplants and other tender plants don’t like temperatures to go below 50 degrees.|
Check your houseplants for insects or disease before bringing them inside. If you have time, groom them before you move your houseplants inside and they will reward you by “glowing” inside your home!

Warning…lots of good info, but expect a few tech glitches. Thanks to all who attended last week!
|FROM WILMA: After weeks of hot, muggy weather the forecast for this weekend will have us scrambling for a jacket. With temperatures in the low 40’s we will be shivering and some of our plants will be, too. It is time to bring tender plants inside. Be sure to check them for insects and diseases. |
The begonia family has over 1,800 species with many grown for their interesting foliage (good houseplants) while others with their colorful flowers are great for bedding plants, container gardens, and hanging baskets. Tuberous begonias with their large colorful blossoms are some of my favorites and I have several hanging baskets of them. They are beginning to go dormant now and I will store them in the basement over winter.
The cooler temperatures will usher in the fall season. Now is the optimum time to plant trees, shrubs, perennials, fruits, fall veggies, etc. Lots of shipments of beautiful plants have been arriving with more expected next week.
