A 60-year veteran of the Jamaican music industry, Toots first used the term "reggae" in recording placing him at the foundation of a global movement.

Toots and the Maytals —  one of the best known ska and rocksteady vocal groups. The Maytals were formed in the early 1960s and were key figures in popularizing reggae music. Frontman Toots Hibbert is considered a Reggae pioneer on par with Bob Marley.

Award-Winning Artist Returns To His Roots For COVID-19 - Six Feet (U Betta Back Up)

Grammy and Emmy Award-winning producer, composer, arranger, singer, and musician Loris Holland has released a new song,
“Six Feet (U Betta Back Up).”

“Better To Be Six Feet Apart Than Six Feet Under”

Normally found at his X-Music Academy in The Colony, Texas USA, Loris says that he has to step forward as performing artist TimeShadow to convey the important message that many still find hard to accept, that social distancing and wearing a mask will help protect each other during this global pandemic.

Loris states that it is his belief that “music is art and science, it’s the enlightenment of the purest, spiritually logical form of bliss that soothes the savage beast in all of us. It’s a true mystery and a great gift from God (The Master Musician) to humanity. It justifies the reality of our existence as we all have the need for, and the ability to create it. We are all born with the gift, and the desire to share our unique styles of musical creativity as we feed our spirits, bodies and souls regularly with its joy.”

Born in Guyana, growing up in the Amazon basin, then living in England and Canada, before living most of his life in the USA, Loris is using this time to record and prepare a new album of Worldbeat and Reggae songs about the current natural and spiritual status of humanity. He states, “The album includes songs of hope and reality in a time when we need to regain our sanity and come together as one.”

The song is available for streaming on all digital platforms,  including iTunesTidalSpotifyAmazonGoogle Play and many others.

Toots' Got To Be Tough album  sales surge following reggae singer's death
Toots Hibbert, the late legendary reggae singer and frontman of the Maytals, has grabbed the pole position on the reggae iTunes top 100 chart, occupying the current number one reggae song with 'Pressure Drop'.

The Jamaican cultural icon, who died in the Intensive Care Unit at the University Hospital of the West Indies last Friday after developing respiratory complications, currently holds six of the top 10 positions on the reggae iTunes singles chart. Bob Marley sits at #2 with 'Three Little Birds'.
Hibbert's cover of Otis Redding's '(I've Got) Dreams to Remember' is at #4, while his lovely cover of John Denver’s 'Take Me Home, Country Roads' revs up to #5.

Toots rounds out the chart with the #8, #9 and #10 positions with '54-46', 'Funky Kingston' and 'Do the Reggay' respectively.

Toots' chart success is a heady mix of triumph and tragedy for a man who was a standard bearer for Jamaican music for almost 60 years. On the weekend, the legend's death cast a sombre shadow over the entire industry but his death has followed a pattern familiar from the death of Michael Jackson, his biggest hits soaring back on the charts and radio playlists as news of his death spread.

Joe Esposito, senior director of Digital Sales at record label BMG, pointed to figures that showed a 6,700 per cent increase in Hibbert's album sales, virtually all of it digital, and astronomically equivalent boosts in track downloads and online streaming.

"Toots has six of the top 10 albums on iTunes reggae while 'Got to be Tough' is at #2. The 'Very Best of Toots & The Maytals' is currently the #14 album overall on iTune, while 'Got To Be Tough' is at  #43). Five of his albums are in the Top 100 overall," Esposito told Loop News via email.
"On Saturday, his albums increased over 6,700 per cent and his tracks over 3,600 per cent on iTunes. His latest album, 'Got to Be Tough' jumped over 2,500 per cent. His catalog on Apple Music increased by over 1,000 per cent."

The label did not disclose the number of copies sold.

The cover of 'Three Little Birds' featuring Ziggy Marley from Hibbert's most recent album was added to the singer's Essentials playlist which is driving 80 per cent of playlist plays, Esposito also revealed.

"Toots' death is as big as John Lennon's death (in the US)," said US-based music insider and consultant David Spero, who has managed acts such as Hibbert, Joe Walsh from the Eagles, Cat Stephens and Bad Company, in the past decades.
"In some areas, his tracks are up almost 3,500 per cent, that's crazy. It certainly shows the world the influence that Toots has on the music to the point that people are scrambling to hear his music right now."

Hawaii's reggae family the Lambsbread drop an inspiring and thought provoking video for their latest single "Lockdown"

The Lambsbread has always been known for their socially conscious and powerful messages contained in their songs, and the groups latest offering "Lockdown" is another spiritually charged anthem for our troubled world. Filmed on the beautiful island of Maui, the video is both majestic and eye opening with the current state of events taking place around the globe. Take a moment to
feel the energy of this piece of art that is both healing and enlightening.

It will make us very sad if you do, and perhaps your removal will be the one the makes us decide this no longer worth doing at all, and all the information we provide will go away forever and musicians will sit home alone at night and cry because they have no one to play for because no one knows about their shows.
