A Few of My Favorite Things
|
FROM WILMA: Sunday, Nov. 1st marks the end of Daylight Savings Time for 2020. After the shock of early darkness wears off I begin to look forward to long evenings. There are many things about November that make it one of my favorite months.
The foliage colors of November have a beauty not seen in other months and seem to glow in the afternoon sun. Sometimes in the wee hours I love hearing owls “talk” to each other from ridge tops. Food choices change at this time - I baked a pumpkin pie last night, and collard greens from the garden and pinto beans are on the menu tonight.
Most November days are pleasant enough to enjoy the outdoors. The soil is still warm and now is a good time to plant most trees and shrubs. I look forward to doing some planting next week as well as gathering seeds from tithonia, wild asters, zinnias, marigolds, etc. to save for next year.
