Overdose Prevention Program

Our Southern Tier Opioid Overdose Prevention Program (STOPP) has been quite busy over the course of the past few months. Jordan has shifted to offering the Narcan trainings virtually and has been educating many people. She has been working with many agencies including STEL and Seneca Strong to ensure their staff members are trained and feel comfortable using Narcan, if the situation arises. Since the beginning of the program in 2015, STHCS has trained 3,207 people to use Narcan and have provided to 3,799 Narcan kits.

We recently have produced new Safe Sleep posters that are now being displayed in the Maternity units at both UPMC Chautauqua and Olean General Hospital, which are both Cribs for Kids Gold Certified Safe Sleep Champions. As part of our Cribs for Kids program, we continue to provide free cribs to those in need of a safe sleep environment and continually work to ensure that safe sleep messaging is provided to expectant parents in many different forms. These posters will serve as a reminder to ensure the ABCs of Safe Sleep are practiced and that the newborns are kept safe. I want to thank the staff at these hospitals for supporting our program and ensuring families understand the ABCs of Safe Sleep. |
