Chicago Israeli Dancing - Virtual As Of 3/16/21
CELEBRATE OUR ZOOM ANNIVERSARY!!!
We Welcome Special Guest Marcelo Marianoff!!!

Well folks, it is hard to believe but this week's session marks one year of Chicago Israeli Dancing - Virtual!!!  This has been a totally amazing and unexpected journey.  And we are still going 😀😀😀

We are beginning to see more and more things opening up here in Chicago and around the country.  Hopefully we might be able to start dancing physically together again over the summer.  Time will tell, but we are definitely heading in the right direction.  However, even when our "real" sessions resume, we plan to continue on zoom at the same time so that our amazing virtual community can continue to participate together. ❤❤❤

This week's newsletter and session are devoted to a celebration of our year together.  Our good friend, Marcelo Marianoff from Argentina raised his hand and said that he wanted to be part of this special occasion.  We are thrilled to have him lead a set.  In addition, we welcome back some of the team members who have been on LOA recently.  It is going to be very much fun.  As you might expect, we will try to cover many of the dances we have taught during this past year.  (Go here to see the complete list with links to the videos Dances Taught)

In honor of the occasion, we invite everyone to wear their CID - Virtual garb of 24 Hour Worldwide Marathon attire and to bring an adult beverage.  I feel a photo op coming on. 👍👍👍

Speaking of t-shirts, the amazing Carol has relaunched the campaign for those who would like to order one.

Most of the rest of this newsletter is dedicated to all the people who have helped lead and support our session during this most unusual period of time in living memory.  Somehow, this remarkable group of people turned lemons into lemonade, creating a special weekly experience that enabled our Israeli dance community to survive and thrive.  In the process, they helped to actually expand our Chicago connection to dancers from literally all over the world!  What an amazing silver lining to this whole experience!!!  ❤❤❤
I have to say that it has been an honor and a pleasure to work with everyone on the team.  Their dedication, skill, and support for each other is really something special.  I can't thank or honor them enough.  Kol Hakavod!!!  And what a blessing it has been to get to meet and/or know better so many of you from all over.

Personals/Shout Outs
Getting ready for Pesach.  Wishing you all a sweet and healthy one!!!

Thanks Bennett for leading a set!

Next, I would like to thank the core group of leaders who were with us either from or almost from the beginning.  Let me start off by acknowledging Penny Brichta, my partner in leading Chicago Israeli Dancing.  Week after week, she starts the session off with a very popular extended beginners/classics set and does another "emtza haderech" set as well.  Yay and thanks Penny!!!  I would also like to single out Stuart Meyer from Cleveland who has been a rock star throughout as a leader, dancer, explorer of the "dance vault" and "my right hand man."  Also from the original core group, let me thank wholeheartedly: Aaron Alpert (California), Gabi Gordon (Chicago/Israel), Latishya Steele (California), Nina Lusterman (Chicago), Rina Rinkewich (Brooklyn), and Sarah Rodin (Chicago).

Moving on to the others who have become frequent/regular leaders on our team.  Thank you all so much!!! - Ariane Butel (Paris who is up in the wee hours of her night to be with us!), Barb Rosen-Cambell (Boston), Deb Schermer (Milwaukee),  Denis Grutcki (Brazil/Wisconsin) Ilan Birnbaum (Queens), and Mayla Boguslav (Colorado).  You guys are wonderful!!!

Chicago Israeli Dancing - Virtual (Local)

The Tuesday night session under the leadership of Penny Brichta has expanded to 3 segments.  Starting at 6:30, Penny teaches Beginner Basics, aimed at newer dancers and those who want more instruction.  The goal is for dancers to more easily transition to Beginners and More which runs from 7-8.  During Beginners and More, Penny teaches as well as calls steps from dances previously introduced in the session.  From 8 until 9, the Chicago Virtual Local Team takes over with one teach of a more advanced dance followed by dancing led by the local team.
