IN BALANCE IS HIRING - JOIN OUR TEAM
APPLY FOR STUDIO MANAGER POSITION
|
Keala here - I wanted to share that I have a wonderful opportunity to travel this summer starting in May - and it's taking me over the ocean for a bit :) It is an opportunity that is too good to pass up and I am feeling called to take it. That being said, we are opening up to hire a New Studio Manager soon for In Balance Yoga. I am excited to be a part of the process of hiring & helping with the transition as well. My last day as the Studio Manager will be on 4/30/21 - a few more weeks! Hopefully when I get settled I can teach this summer still with IBY online as well - and still plan to stay connected. So not a goodbye but a change of roles. I am really looking forward to some personal development & growth and expansion as well.
In Balance will have a Celebration / Gathering for connection and community and well wishes on Thurs., 4/29, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Eastern Divide Brewery - this would be outside in their large gathering area lots of space - masks welcome, there is food and a variety of options for beverages and would love to have you stop by anytime if you can.
Nicole is excited for me and has been very supportive in my new opportunities. I am grateful for this experience - it’s been a privilege to lead as the manager these 4.5 years. I am thrilled for the next person to lead in this role and have this wonderful opportunity to lead a small business and care for this community.

NEW ON DEMAND VIDEOS FOR MEMBERS
UPLOADED DAILY + SELF CARE PANEL
|
Thank you Community Foundation of the New River Valley for having us on your Non Profit Listening Session on Self Care this morning. We enjoyed being a part of the panel with InStill Mindfulness, and the Integrative Health Liaison and Trauma Informed Trainer with NRV Community Services. The panel lasted 45 min and the discussion was based on these questions:
1. What is your definition of self-care and how do you and/or your organization promote self-care?
2. How have you seen the pandemic change the thought process of self-care?
3. How have your services pivoted during the pandemic?
4. Mental-Health is often looked over when the term “self-care” is thrown out. However, media has really brought light to more mental health awareness during the pandemic. Why do you think that is?
5. What are some questions that we can ask ourselves to evaluate where we stand in terms of mental health, well-being and self-care, a self-check, if you will?
6. If there is just ONE thing that you could recommend doing daily to better at self-care, what would it be?
Check out the full video here:

COMING SOON: IBY & ORANGE THEORY FITNESS OUTDOOR WORKOUT @ VTCRC
|
|
HEAT IS ON IN STUDIO - HOT CLASSES WILL BE SET TO 90 & ALL OTHER INDOOR CLASSES 75
|
Limited to 14 with social distancing between mats.
Between classes we will use our two exhaust fans and open windows for fresh air exchange. The exhaust fans pull fresh air from outside in for circulation and exhaust out the current air.
We will use our Radiant heat panels. Radiant heat is transmitted through electronic waves. When these waves are intercepted and absorbed they are converted into heat. The radiant energy is absorbed by objects in the room and warms the space similar to your clothes absorbing the light from the sun vs blowing heat in the room through vents similar to your home forced air unit.

DONATIONS CLASSES
FOR YOGA TEACHER TRAINING DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP
|
|
|
We have been working on various diversity & inclusion initiatives for years, the details of which we will be making much more transparent in our future. The first matter we wish to bring to light is our YTT Diversity Scholarship, which we began raising funds for back in February of this year. We have opened up this fund for our community to donate to at any time, will be offering regularly scheduled donations based classes to raise funds, and will also be providing a full scholarship in our upcoming training to one of our diversity scholarship applicants. Our goal in this effort is to continue to cultivate a more diverse and representative teaching population in our area. Let us know if you are interested in learning more or applying.

APRIL KUNGA THEME:
SERVING OUR PLANET
|
As we continue to use more of the planets resources, we can look at our yoga practice as a wonderful opportunity to reevaluate our connection with the planet and it’s inhabitants. We are taught through the ancient texts of yoga that is our responsibility and duty to care for our planet and each other very consciously. Our challenge is to wake up and see what is unfolding on our planet, under our very noses.
