|The Arc Williamson County accepts applications for Family Support at any time throughout the year. In order to be considered by the Family Support Local Council in the first round each year the application plus any needed proofs needed to be received by March 31, 2021 and those that are received after that time may be placed on the waiting list if all funds are allocated. A new application is required each year even if you are currently receiving services or are on the waiting list. Updated proof of residency is also required annually. A copy of a utility bill in your name at your current address dated within the last 60 days would work. If we do not have a lifelong disability letter from your physician on file then we will also need updated proof of disability dated within the last year. If you are currently receiving Family Support or are on the waiting list we will not need new proof of citizenship but if you are a new applicant, that will also be required. A copy of a birth certificate or current passport would work for that. |
The 2021-2022 Intake/Application Form and our handbook can be found on our website at www.thearcwc.org or by contacting Sharon at 615-790-5815, ext. 3.
If you live outside of Williamson County you can call 615-532-6552 to find out what agency administers the Family Support Program in your area.
In 1992, the Tennessee General Assembly passed legislation establishing a statewide Family Support Program. Statewide funding for this program is determined by our state legislators on a yearly basis. The program is administered by the State of Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and managed in Williamson County by The Arc Williamson County. The program is designed to assist individuals with developmental or severe disabilities and their families to remain together in their homes and communities by providing financial assistance and community resource information. You may not receive Family Support if you receive services through TennCare Choices; TennCare ECF Waiver; the DIDD Statewide, Self-Determination or CAC Waiver; or the Katie Beckett Waiver. Services provided include but are not limited to reimbursement for day care, respite care, specialized supplies, home and vehicle modifications, and equipment.
|For the first time since the start of the pandemic, stimulus checks are going out to many people with disabilities regardless of whether they’re considered dependents. The COVID-19 relief bill known as at the American Rescue Plan that was signed into law includes $1,400 direct payments to individuals earning less than $75,000 per year, with phased amounts for those making up to $80,000 annually. Previous stimulus payments over the last year specifically excluded people who are counted as someone else’s dependent for tax purposes. But, this time around adult dependents will be able to collect the relief funds. It is expected these will go out the first part of April.|
