Welcome Spring! What is new with ACCOIN?
Support Groups are blooming!
We are excited to share we will be adding new support groups soon! Denise is seeking feedback. We would  like to do parent/caregiver support more than once a month but we'd like your feedback.
From Denise: " Our new director Leslie is at the hospital once a week with families. That opens up my Wednesdays to do more support groups! Families really need connection from each other as only YOU know what it's like. If we do a Wednesday zoom group, what time would work best for you? Mornings, midday or afternoons?
Please reply to Denise: dcaldwell@accoinlandnw.org Additionally, if you would like to join a support group or have a child that would like to be part of our groups, please let her know. We have a teen group that meets twice a month and we would love them to join.
We're wearing our Jammies today!
Friday, April 16, was National Pajama Day. From that day, ACCO has developed its own day of awareness and fund raising. PJammin’ is a day where everyone is encouraged to wear pajamas to work or school to honor kids with cancer, who often must live in pajamas when battling their cancer.

Amber Lynde, an ACCOIN childhood cancer survivor, is now the Education Director at Trinity Catholic School and Educare. On Friday, April 16, Amber invited all the students and staff to wear pajamas for the day. ACCOIN Board President, Margaret Kobylus, was invited to visit the school that day. Amber and Margaret visited each classroom. Amber spoke to the students about her cancer journey as a teenager, and Margaret spoke about the organization, ACCOIN, that supports the kids and families during those journeys. The students had some really great questions that Amber and Margaret answered so that the students could better understand childhood cancer.

Amber relayed to the students that one of her favorite ACCOIN support programs was the snack basket. She explained how important that snack basket was for kids who often had no appetite. ACCOIN provided a snack for the students that day so they could share in Amber’s favorite program.

The kids and staff at Trinity School raised $259.00 for our local ACCOIN organization during their PJammin’ awareness day. Amber and Margaret both told them how thankful ACCOIN is for their support and caring.

Over TEN families joined in on Zoom this spring to play games and win prizes. We also had a great demonstration on how to draw a penguin! There is some raw talent in our group of kids and parents.

We will be having another camp in July. We have some great stuff planned so be sure to join in.

Next year we will joyfully meet in person.
This year, let's continue to celebrate our mission and help move it forward from our hearts and homes.
American Childhood Cancer Organization Inland Northwest’s unique mission is to help each family cope with life during childhood cancer treatments and rebuild their lives after cancer from the experienced perspective of those who have been there before. Your donations will enhance the lives of children with cancer and their families. You will be providing emotional and practical support, education, patient advocacy, and the assurance that no child or family will have to fight cancer alone.
Our Mission Statement:
“To educate, support, serve, and advocate for families of children with cancer, survivors of childhood cancer, and the professionals who care for them.”
We serve all children diagnosed with cancer from Eastern Washington and those traveling to Spokane, Washington from North Idaho and Western Montana for treatment. Funds raised locally remain in our communities to help children with cancer in the Inland Northwest.
…because kids can’t fight cancer alone!!
