June is Special!
FROM WILMA:  June is a month of special days - weddings, graduations, Father’s Day, Flag Day, Juneteenth, Summer Solstice, and others. A few lessor known days are Corn on the Cob Day (11th), Go Fishing Day (18th), and National Pink Day (23rd). June is National Iced Tea Month, National Adopt a Cat Month, National Great Outdoors Month, and others including Perennial Gardening Month and National Pollinator Month.

Celebrate Perennial Gardening Month this June by rejuvenating or making a new perennial garden. Get inspired by this list of June bloomers. There is a tempting variety of perennials at the Garden Center with lots more being grown at our Propagation Farm. Take advantage of our perennial sale that will continue throughout the month of June!

June is also National Pollinator Month. I sometimes find myself (and occasionally some of you) mesmerized by pollinators in our garden located in back of the Garden Shop. There are two upcoming pollinator events happening in June. See information below.

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 20
Remember Dad on Father’s Day!

We have lots of goodies for Dad at Reems Creek Nursery - awesome plants, tools, books, and fun outdoor living items…plus, gift cards are always a popular option.

June is a great month to
begin or expand your Pollinator Garden.

Perennials are bringing bucketloads of color to the landscape. Butterflies are flittering amid the color, and a closer look will reveal honeybees and all sizes of native bees (over 500 species in North Carolina!) from teeny tiny to big & fuzzy. Native plants are especially nurturing to our native bee population – as they have evolved together over thousands of years and are mutually dependent on each other.

If you have only a balcony space, choose long-blooming plants like blanket flower and coreopsis. If you keep them deadheaded, they will bloom their hearts out!
