Sunday June 20 is Father's Day!
Are you ready for Father’s Day? Reems Creek Nursery has all kinds of goodies Dad would love! Our plant inventory is packed with beautiful shrubs and flowers, and we also have fantastic tools, field guides, garden benches in stone, teak, & metal, bat boxes, bluebird houses, sun hats and much more to put a big smile on dad’s face. Gift Cards are a great option that lets dad choose what HE wants, and they are easy to order online or purchase at the Garden Center.

This Sunday, celebrate your father, grandfather, husband, or another father figure in your life with a thoughtful gift from Reems Creek Nursery.

Did you know? Sunday is also the Summer Solstice and the longest day of the year. The Solstice peaks at 11:32 p.m. EDT. Treasure those early sunrises and late sunsets of summertime. Days will start getting a tiny bit shorter every day…but they will still be luxuriously long - with extra time to enjoy the garden. Let’s revel in this double celebration – of fathers and the solstice!
Father's Day Azalea Special
Father’s Day Special – all Evergreen Azaleas are 25% Off

This sale includes your favorite tried and true evergreen azaleas plus Encore azaleas - sale goes through Sat. June 19. Add a beautiful bloomer to Dad's garden!

One of our most beautiful spring bloomers, azaleas enjoy morning sun and afternoon shade. Encore azaleas bloom more than once during the season - usually blooming a second time in the late summer/fall. We suggest amending your planting soil well because good drainage in the root zone fosters a thriving plant.

 Where Should I Start?
FROM WILMA:
Time, energy, and sometimes space often determine what to do in our gardens. Yesterday morning I allotted myself an hour to spend in the garden. Should I pull weeds, pot up herb containers, fertilize the vegetables, or find a spot for the “orphan” seedlings I couldn’t part with? I decided the weeds and fertilizing should be a priority and the herbs and seedlings could wait.

With longer hours of daylight and cooler temperatures evenings are my favorite time to “work” in the garden. This evening I planted the herb containers and made a new area for the seedlings. Bill and I also had time to sit on a large stump that is part of a garden area and watch the sunset.

With the arrival of summer lots of color is appearing both in annual and perennial gardens. Regular watering, fertilizing, and deadheading will promote better flowering. Pinch back mums, asters, and other late-season perennials now (before July 4) for fuller plants.

This Garden Tour will be in the cool of the evening at 7 pm.

Joel Cole’s Faer Hill Cottage Garden
Thursday, July 8 at 7 pm
Weaverville

Joel Cole is an artist, gardener, beekeeper, and world traveler. In 1983, Joel started Faer Hill Cottage Garden for his grandmother, Bessie Garrison. After his grandparents passed away, Joel bought the property and returned home from New York City to put down roots in his hometown of Weaverville. Joel’s painting studio is nestled in the garden, which includes a number of garden “rooms” such as a potager garden with his beehives, a Japanese garden, and water garden - with delightful surprises at every turn. Joel is inspired by Monet's landscape paintings, texture in the garden, and he has planted many evergreens for winter interest.

The tour is free, but you must pre-register to attend.
