Welcome to the most scenic and challenging race on our race calendar. We are thrilled to be bringing back runners to Mountain Air under more normal circumstances this year and dedicating the proceeds of the event to Annabelle's Haven, a safe place for abused women and children in Burnsville.
If you are veteran of this race or a first-timer, we ask you read through the information below as some things have changed from past years.
Location
Packet pickup and the race start are at the Mountain Air Visitor Center, 65 Mountain Air Drive, Burnsville
Important Times
Packet Pickup/Late Registration: 3:00-4:30 PM
Shuttles to the Bottom: 3:45-4:40 PM
Race Start: 5:00 PM
Parking/Shuttles
New for 2021: Runners will drive up the mountain to the designated parking area and ride a shuttle to the start area. Look for the Race Parking signs to go to the designated parking area. The shuttles are for runners only so we ask that supporters and spectators wait at the top for the finish and enjoy the beautiful scenery. If they come down to the bottom, we won't be able to get them back to the top.
Bag Drop
We will still have a bag drop near packet pickup where you can leave a bag (or use one of ours) and have it waiting for you at the finish line.
Course
The course will be controlled for traffic during the race but we still ask you to stay to the right at all times and do not cross the yellow line or cut corners on the switchbacks.
There will be one water station about halfway up the mountain.
Restrooms
The restrooms at the Visitor Center will be open prior to the race for runners. There will be portajohns at the finish line to the left of the runway near the airplane parking.
Post Race
Upon reaching the finish line we will have water, light food, beer from Home Place Brewing and, of course, the best finish line in racing. The awards ceremony will take place at approximately 6:15 PM.
The food and drink is for runners only. If we have extra after every runner finishes, we will offer it to your supporters but please plan on them being self sufficient.
Weather
The temperature is 4-6 degrees cooler at the finish line than the start and it will cool as we progress through the evening. Please plan accordingly.
COVID-19 Mitigation
We are following all federal, county and local rules as they apply to outside gatherings. This is a large venue with plenty of space to spread out, however, there will be instances when you will be close to other people. We ask you to wear a face mask in the following instances and whenever else you like:
- At Packet-Pickup
- In line for the restrooms
- While closely packed in the start area (recommended but not required)
- On shuttles
