Blues News You Can Use!
Merry Christmas Greetings from the OBS President

A word from our President, Liz Lottmann

As the New Year comes around, for many of us, it’s a time for both celebration and reflection. After all, without reflecting on the past year, how do you know what your New Year Resolutions should be? I’ve made my own, but with your indulgence, I’ll imagine a few that you might have.
Resolution #1: I resolve to remain a member, or become a member, of the Ozark Blues Society of NW Arkansas. This lets me support their Blues in the Schools program, support our local Blues musicians, support the venues where their events take place, and get to know about the generous sponsors assisting their programs and events.
Resolution #2: I resolve to learn more about Blues history and the artists who made it – many of them Arkansas natives. By remaining on the Blues Newsletter email list, I can do that.
Resolution #3: I resolve to stay as involved in music, particularly Blues music, as long I can, and as much as I’m able. I can do that by going to the various events organized by the Ozark Blues Society, which let me see, hear, and meet locally-based and nationally-touring artists.
Resolution #4: I resolve to ask myself how I can personally be involved with the goals of Ozark Blues Society, by seeking to join the Board, or by joining a Board committee, or by volunteering at events.
So how’s that for guessing at your resolutions? I hope it matches some of your own goals for the New Year, or inspires you to think of them. All of the information you need to fulfill them is on our website, in our newsletters, or from a board member – just reply to this email or message us on our Facebook page.
As a special, surprise Christmas gift for that a favorite person on your blues lover's Christmas list, why not help them start the New Year off right by grabbing them (and yourself) tickets to our Bound for Beale event on January 29, 2022 at the 21c Museum Hotel in Bentonville. Tickets are priced right, and reserved seating is still available. This is an annual event -- a fundraiser for the 2021 Blues Challenge winner, The Jeff Horton Band, to compete in the International Blues Challenge, on Beale Street in Memphis. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/bound-for-beale-fundraiser-tickets-41538733470
Let’s all do our best to stay well, stay eager to have fun and Party in the Blues! Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year!

Liz
