These veggies are sustainably-grown on our Farm using organic fertilizers and organic pest control if needed.
Cool season vegetable transplants are looking incredible in our greenhouse right now. Our yummy selection includes beets, red & green lettuces, kales, cabbages, creasy greens, rainbow chard, tatsoi, pak choi, mustard, broccoli, cauliflower, arugula, endive, snow peas, and sugar snap peas. This time of year vegetables will need to be hardened off* prior to planting outside and some require extra protection on freezing nights.
*What does “hardening off” mean? Vegetable transplants that have been raised indoors need to be hardened off before planting them outdoors. That means gently exposing them to the elements – soft breezes, outdoor light, and cooler temps prior to planting. To harden off, on milder days set your transplants outdoors during the day and bring them in at night. Overcast days are ideal. After a few days of this treatment, they will begin to toughen up. Plant them during a stretch of mild weather with no frost/freezing conditions predicted for a few days. For cold protection, ideally install a simple low tunnel at planting time.
installing an affordable low tunnel for cold protection is easy. No heavy lifting involved! Floating row cover and fiberglass rods are available for purchase in our lower Garden Shop.
Just ask us…we are happy to answer any questions!
*If we run short and have to buy-in conventional vegetables, we mark them as conventionally-grown.

Bill and Wilma love going on road trips. Driving to Denver, San Antonio, or New Mexico does not phase them in the least and neither does snow - they look forward to it! This trip they are in Norton, Kansas visiting their special friend Donna. This picture was taken on a beautiful sunny day with a high temperature of 10 degrees.
