March . . . Lion or Lamb?
From Wilma:
March - Was it a Lamb or a Lion? Looking forward to April!

March 2022 came in like a lamb with a few balmy days at the beginning of the month. Much of the remainder of the month has been a lion with a snow event, frosty morns, low temperatures, and gusty winds. Hopefully, April (from the Latin word aperio, “to open or bud”) will bring spring weather.

Most of us are anxious to begin planting our vegetable gardens. Although it is too soon to put in warm season plants, there is time for cool season veggies. The National Garden Bureau has declared 2022 the “Year of Salad Greens". Salad greens do not have to be green - red leaf lettuce, beet tops, 'Rainbow'  Swiss chard, and purple kale make colorful additions to salads. Untreated pansy/viola flowers are fun and tasty in salads, too. Cool-season veggie plants are now on sale for 25% off.

It is exciting to see trees, shrubs, perennials, herbs, veggies, gardening supplies, and gift shop items arrive at the Garden Center. The greenhouses at the Farm are full of great-looking plants that are growing just for you. Thanks to a great staff at both the Garden Center and Farm for making all this possible!
