ROB AND EILEEN ARE TEACHING AGAIN
|
Eileen and Rob began teaching with In Balance Yoga Studio the first week we opened, back in 2009. For the past 6 weeks they have taken a sabbatical from teaching - for the first time since 2003! Now they are back, with their own website, arainofblessings.com, where they offer 90-minutes live classes twice a week, as well as on-demand classes of varying length and on specific topics. They are also sharing a set of video tutorials to help with some of the less familiar practices like pranayama, mudras and bandhas, as well as certain asanas.
For the month of June their classes are free to everyone, and you can find their classes on the In Balance Yoga Schedule in MindBody. After June 30, In Balance Students at no additional cost! Even though Eileen and Rob are no longer in Blacksburg, they are truly excited to continue to teach for In Balance.

JULY KUNGA THEME:
10 MINUTES OF PRANAYAMA
|
Controlling the power of the breath is the technique of pranayama. ”Prana” is the Sanskrit word for life force. This is the energy that exists everywhere and is manifested in each of us through the breath, but prana isn’t exactly the same thing as breath or oxygen. Prana exists in all living things. It is pure energy. Every cell in our body is controlled by prana. Prana equals life. “Ayama” means a lengthening or restraining. So, putting the words together gives us “pranayama”, with means to master the life force. Pranayama techniques have been practiced for thousands of years, and you will find prana referenced in the Upanishads, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, and many other yogic texts.
