Gentle and Meditation Yoga with Jess Online and at Wilmington Yoga Center
10/14/22-10/16/2

In the past yoga schools had a rich meditation practice that has been lost in many modern traditions. This workshop is rooted in the Buddhist style of vipassana, or insight meditation. In addition we will explore walking, mantra (repetition of specific phrases) and kundalini (a style of yoga practiced to release latent energy coiled at the base of the spine) meditation practices. These techniques for expanding awareness and releasing painful mental habits are useful no matter what your religious or spiritual orientation. Gentle Yoga is a slower paced practice that is accessible to people of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels.
We will start with the most ancient forms from which Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain meditation have sprung. After learning these techniques we will explore how they can be incorporated into a modern practice and taught to our students.

Teacher Training for
Yoga for Cancer Patients, Care Takers, and Survivors

The Christina Phipps Foundation fosters the use of yoga as part of the restorative and rehabilitative process following breast cancer surgery. Our instructors are trained to recognize that such surgery will often result in lingering pain and a reduced range of motion.

Yoga instructors who are RYT 200 and who hold a Yoga Alliance Registry number may apply. Once they complete the CPF coursework, and demonstrate the synthesis of this knowledge into their teaching methods during their formal presentation will be certified by the Foundation and receive the formal professional designation of CPF. The CPF certificate can be presented to the Yoga Alliance for CEU hours.

In exchange for participating and completing the program,
all recipients of the CPF Designation agree to donate (on their own time and at no charge) one hour of instruction per week to one of the facilities providing CPF classes for at least six months.

Please let us know if you're interested in participating.

SEPTEMBER KUNGA THEME:
THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING
INSPIRATION FOR THIS MONTH’S THEME IS ROOTED IN THE MOTTO OF THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS: “IT’S ALL ABOUT ATTITUDE!”
Over 50 years ago, a book called The Power of Positive Thinking became an immediate best-seller. The author Dr. Normal Vincent Peale, offered a variety of psychological practices to support the individual in developing a daily optimistic mindset for viewing life’s challenges as opportunities.
