Help a Child Affected by Hurricane Ian

Reems Creek Nursery is sponsoring a fundraiser to help children that were devastated by Hurricane Ian in Florida.

Details: Reems Creek Nursery will be donating 10% of all houseplant sales through Thurs, Oct. 20 to the non-profit AgAngels. On top of that, Reems Creek Nursery will match the amount raised for up to $1000.

AgAngels serves the Peace River Basin community near Fort Myers by distributing the money they raise to local school teachers who use the funds to help the children in need in their classrooms. In response to Hurricane Ian's devastation, AgAngels will distribute all hurricane relief donations they receive before Nov. 1st to school teachers to help children and youth in the Peace River Basin. Many families have lost everything.

Let’s be pro-active. Every houseplant you purchase by Oct. 20 will help out these kids. We just received a fresh houseplant shipment too!

Your contribution matters and will be greatly appreciated!

Kids' Pumpkin Party
Fun with Miss Cristi
At Reems Creek Nursery
Sat, Oct. 15
10-11 AM

Miss Cristi loves crafting with kids!
Join us for this fun fall activity.

Miss Cristi will start off by reading a short seasonal story to the kids and then dissecting a pumpkin to take a look at what’s on the inside. Next, we’ll jump into decorating pumpkins (no carving involved) with a variety of colorful, fun elements to create your own jack-o-lantern or fall decoration.
More info and register.

Kids ages 4 and up. Costumes encouraged!

The Beauty of the Season
FROM WILMA:

“As long as autumn lasts, I shall not have hands, canvas, and colors enough to paint the beautiful things I see.”
- Vincent van Gogh

About this time each autumn we are awe struck by the beauty of the season. Whether it is a wide vista of colorful mountainsides viewed from the Blue Ridge Parkway or the sight of a single tree in glorious fall color we can understand Van Gogh’s statement. From my kitchen window I love gazing at a dogwood and a sweet gum that seem extra beautiful this fall.

In addition to trees, shrubs like oakleaf hydrangea, fothergilla, itea, a few viburnum species, forsythia, and aronia have good fall color. Blueberry plants with their red fall foliage are a favorite of mine. Some ornamental grasses, perennials like amsonia, and grape vines also have interesting fall foliage.

Remember Fall is for Planting!
