Lots of customers are worried that one or more of their plants died during the extreme flash freeze around Christmas.
Some plants may look rough, but we encourage you to be patient and have a wait-and-see attitude - wait until at least late MAY before digging anything up or discarding plants. It can take that long for new growth to kick in.
Most plants are very resilient and will bounce back once the weather is reliably warm and active growing has begun - but they need time to recover and send out new growth. Regular watering and fertilizing your plants in mid-April can be helpful.
Earlier in the season we shared this video from the Nashville Tennessee Master Gardeners (they are in the same planting zone as us!) and we'd like to share it again. Please give it a watch and we think you'll feel reassured.

Alert - Cold Weather Coming!
|
Keep your eye on the weather and protect tender plants! This Saturday night is predicted to be 31 degrees, and temps in the lower twenties are predicted for a few nights next week.
Protect spring veggie gardens by constructing an easy low tunnel with fiberglass rods and floating row cover (we have the supplies). Protect other plants with row cover, sheets, or even light blankets. Don't use plastic as that can end up burning the plants.
Read our blogpost for a more extensive list of suggestions.
