Asana Class #1, Monday, 1:15 - 4:15 pm, May 15, $108 a la carte Firmly Grounded: Standing & Balancing Postures Patañjali encourages Yoga aspirants to develop a practice that is steadfast, and firmly grounded. We will investigate standing and balancing postures as a means to systematically approach to stabilize our connection to the Earth with the intent of accessing greater freedom within the self. Diagnostic as well as curative, these postures are the vehicle for developing a sustainable practice that has the qualities of integrity of alignment and form, through integration of the Bandha, pelvic floor, and legs. Exploration of assists, and adaptations for the individual.
Asana Class #2, Tuesday, 1:15 - 4:15 pm, May 16, $108 a la carte Clearing the Heart and Unloading the Shoulders A somatic investigation of the Patanjali Yoga Sūtra’s teachings on living life from the inside out, and the work of finding enough freedom within to enjoy and experience life to its fullest. An inquiry into how to integrate the least stable joint of the body to open the seat of Buddhi, wisdom in the heart center. Backbends, inversions, and arm balances. Exploration of assists, and adaptations for the individual.
Sūtra Class #1 with Restorative Yoga, Monday, 5:30 - 7:30 pm, May 15, $72 a la carte Restorative Yoga, Patañjali Yoga Sutra and Prānāyāma Some doors only open from the inside. Yogic posture is the seat in which Yoga begins and opens the door to metaphysical realities. Enjoy restorative postures, the Yoga Sūtra’s sage wisdom and Prānāyāma practices.
Sūtra Class #2 The Hero’s Journey: A Path of the Heart, Tuesday, 9:30 - 11:30 am, May 16, $72 a la carte The primary hero’s left footprints and insights to encourage us to open new pathways to collective and individual elevation. Sankalpa is the fuel that feeds the fire of Self-realization, and the journey of Yoga to reclaim wholeness, feed the sacred with honey in the heart. Yoga Sūtra wisdom chanting, discussion and self-inquiry.
Bio: Yoga is a journey of compressed evolution towards breakthrough experiences. Bhavani believes that engaging in the full science and art of Yoga uplifts us, deepens connection with authentic self and to the source of joy within. She offers unique insights to open new pathways to greater freedom and specializes in addressing your specific needs to facilitate the development of a personal practice that is appropriate to your challenges, physical injuries anddesire for personal growth and transformation.
Introduced to Yoga at age 9, Bhāvani began her exploration of Patanjali’s Ashtanga Yoga in 1987 and at the bequest of her teacher, started sharing Yoga in 1994. She founded Kauai's first Yoga shala, Yoga Hanalei, in 1999. She began to offer teacher trainings in 2003 and is dedicated to mentoring students in their personal adventure of Yoga as embodiment of somatic, emotional and psychological integration in heart-centered consciousness. Bhāvani shares Yoga in the indigenous tradition of heart-to-heart transmission to affirm that rather than becoming, Yoga is to reclaim your unique wholeness and to offer yourself to life's beauty-making as something never before seen.

MAY KUNGA THEME: APARIGRAHA
|
Aparigraha is the concept of non-possessiveness or non-coveting. The term usually elicits the thought of limiting possessions to what is necessary and important.
Aparigraha is the Sanskrit word for greedlessness. It comes from the word parigraha, which means reaching out for something and claiming it for oneself- by adding the “A” it becomes the antonym. Aparigraha means taking what is truly necessary.
