REMINDERS AND NEW INFORMATION

DATES:
April 4, 2025 (midnight). Deadline for submitting the registration form and a copy of the music being performed by each student. (see additional information below)
April 5, 2025. Postmark deadline for all school checks. Registration fees may also be paid online by credit card when registering.
April 6, 2025 (midnight). Deadline for uploading all performance videos to the assigned google folder. Note: Once a registration form is received, a link to an individual google folder will be sent by Scotty Walker, LMEA Executive Director, to the director. Directors should upload their students’ performance videos to this folder only.
COST:
$25.00 per solo $20.00 per ensemble member
If paying by school check, make it payable to LMEA. Mail the check with a copy of your registration confirmation email to: State Solo and Ensemble Assessment, Scotty Walker Executive Director, 410 Holden Ave., Lafayette, LA 70506.
If paying by credit card, a small processing fee will be added.
Any registrations, checks, or videos submitted after the deadlines will not be considered for adjudication. No refund will be issued after the performance videos have been sent to the adjudicators.

REMINDER DISTRICT VII ELECTION All current full LMEA members of District VII are eligible to vote. (Retired and collegiate members are not eligible to vote.) Voting began March 1, 2025 and will close at midnight March 15, 2025. All votes are kept anonymous. Ballots were emailed.

Ensemble Awards It is assessment season and the perfect time to think about getting a great recording of your group to submit for awards. Deadline: March 1 to June 1
Purpose: To recognize quality high school and middle school choral music programs serving historically disadvantaged student populations.
Deadline: Submit recordings and form between March 1 and June 1
Eligibility: High schools, elementary, and middle/jr. high schools whose director is an LMEA/NAfME member

Purpose: To recognize outstanding school principals, assistant principals, superintendents, and/or assistant or associate superintendents who demonstrate support for and commitment to high-quality arts education programs in their schools. The influence of such administrators is a major factor in improving music education in school systems across the state. Deadline: May 1

LMEA has reinstated the State Large Ensemble Assessments to provide schools who have qualifying ensembles the opportunity to proceed to a higher level of evaluation and recognition. This assessment will be virtual only during the 2024-25 school year.
Beginning in 2026, there will be an in-person assessment.
Qualifying Ensembles
- Bands, choirs, and orchestras must have participated for ratings in both stage performance and sight-reading at the current academic year’s District Large Ensemble Assessment and earned a superior rating in stage performance and no lower than an excellent in sight-reading.
- Groups must enter in the same classification used at the qualifying District Large Ensemble Assessment.
- Ensemble membership and the director of the ensemble must not change from the District Assessment.
- Only teachers who are current members of LMEA/NAfME may enter an ensemble in this event.
Deadline
- Deadline for submitting the online registration form is Friday, April 11, 2025 (midnight).
- Postmark deadline for submitting school check is Saturday, April 12, 2025.
- Upload deadline for submitting copies of music scores and audio recordings (mp3 only) is Monday, April 14, 2025 (midnight). (a link will be sent once registration is received)
- Late registrations, postmarks, or uploads cannot be accepted.
