"Dear Louisiana Music Educators of all backgrounds",
|
Whether you're just beginning your journey as a music educator or you've been inspiring students for decades, we would love for you to consider the LMEA Mentorship Program. At LMEA, we believe that great teaching doesn’t happen in isolation. Our strength lies in the connections we build, the experiences we share, and the support we offer one another. That’s why we invite you to take part in our statewide mentorship program, led by music educators, for music educators. If you are in your first 5 years of teaching, let us walk alongside you! As a mentee, you’ll be matched with a seasoned music educator in your field and your location. Whether it’s band, choir, orchestra, elementary music, guitar, or jazz, you will have access to someone who knows the ropes and understands your daily challenges. You'll receive guidance, encouragement, and practical advice from someone who gets it. This is not about judgment or pressure, it’s about community, growth, and becoming the best teacher you can be for all of our music students who deserve the best. If you are a seasoned music rockstar educator, we need your expertise and help. You’ve weathered the rehearsals, festivals, lesson plans, and late-night concert setups, and you’ve built a career rooted in passion and perseverance. Now, it’s time to pass the baton. As a mentor, your impact will multiply as you help nurture the next generation of Louisiana music educators. Whether you're still in the classroom or recently retired, your wisdom is a priceless gift to someone who’s just beginning. NOTE: We may not have enough mentees for you to be paired with, but we have another way you can participate and still help our new teachers. The benefits to the Mentorship Program? -Tailored matching based on content area and region -Flexible and manageable time commitments -Ongoing support from the LMEA Mentorship Committee -A stronger, more connected music education community across Louisiana This program is for all of us.
