5/1-5: Full Moon in Scorpio: Renewal and Transformation
|
The month opens with an intense, transformative quality of time symbolized by the Full Moon in Scorpio, the most probing and passionate sign of the zodiac. This lunation is disposed by Pluto, which stations retrograde on May 5, amplifying the depth of this first week.
This is also the first Full Moon with all outer planets having settled into the signs they will inhabit for years to come: Uranus in Gemini, Neptune in Aries, and Pluto in Aquarius. Together, they form sextiles aspects to each other, suggesting opportunities within the broader turbulence. Air signs—Gemini and Aquarius in particular—are undergoing profound reorganization through Uranus, the awakener, and Pluto, the force of transformation, or symbolical death and rebirth. The pace of change may accelerate in technology, communication, and society.
Mars, strong in Aries, marches forward, preceded by Saturn and Neptune in Aries, and followed by Mercury’s conjunction with Chiron. There is both urgency and reckoning here—a call to act, and to question.
Scorpio lives at the razor’s edge, attuned to the fragility and preciousness of life. The question posed by poet Mary Oliver— “What is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”—echoes strongly under this Full Moon. This lunation invites us not to take anything at face value, but to probe beneath the surface. Pluto’s station may unearth inconvenient truths, long-buried memories, or emotions that resist easy integration. Yet this is precisely where transformation begins.
I have found myself thinking of turbulence in the air to describe this season of change: invisible currents causing sudden shifts, jolts, moments of instability. This first week of May may carry that feeling—yet turbulence is also a sign that we are moving through changing layers.
This lunation invites us to ponder on what truth is asking to be acknowledged, even if it feels uncomfortable? Where am I being invited to release control and trust a deeper process? What feels essential, beneath the noise and distraction? The time invites to take stock, to turn towards that inner reality with open eyes and heart. The outcome can be transformative.
There may also be collective expressions of power struggles or revelations—Pluto in Aquarius illuminating both the visible and hidden dimensions of our shared digital and social worlds.
Meanwhile, Jupiter in Cancer forms a dynamic aspect to Mars (exact May 4), infusing the moment with courage, impatience, and a desire to initiate.

5/16: Taurus New Moon: the Benevolent Comfort of the Senses
|
As the month unfolds, several planets shift into Taurus, offering a welcome sense of groundedness and steadiness. Sun and Moon meet at 25 degrees for the new Moon in Taurus, and will be conjunct Mercury at 28 degrees, all disposed by Venus at 27 degrees of Gemini. This is the first New Moon in Taurus since Uranus has moved into Gemini, marking a subtle but meaningful shift. It may feel like a landing place after the charged beginning of the month. Imagine yourself walking barefoot on the smooth grass and soft soil, feeling the calming and nurturing sensation of support to the earth can offer us.
The title of David Abram’s book The Spell of the Sensuous comes to mind. There is a profund wisdom in re-inhabiting the sensory world: the taste of a meal, the texture of the fresh air as we breathe, the quiet presence of a place that soothes the nervous system. In times of rapid change, slowing down and attune ourselves to what is tangible and nourishing become deeply restorative and comforting.
At the eve of the new moon, when night is dark, the time is right to turn inward and set intentions for the new cycle. We might ask ourselves: what truly nourishes me, in body and in spirit? Where can I simplify, to create more steadiness in my life? How can I deepen my relationship to the present moment through my senses? What am I ready to cultivate slowly and consistently?
It may feel quietly benevolent lunation— inviting us to return to our bodies, our senses, and the rhythms that sustain us.

5/31: Sagittarius Full Moon: The Endless Horizon of Hope
|
The month closes with a second Full Moon—this time at 9 degrees of Sagittarius—bringing the possibility to tap into the fiery vision of the arrow, “Sagitta,” pointed towards the vast horizon. The journey more than the destination is dear to Sag, which invites us to look ahead and envision the possibilities that lie somewhere in the distance.
Supported by Pluto in Aquarius and Saturn and Neptune in Aries, this lunation carries both inspiration and momentum. A strong Jupiter in Cancer disposes the Moon, will soon meet Venus in early June, hold the promise of connection and benevolence on June 9/10.
Sagittarius reminds us of the enduring human capacity for dreaming and hoping—the inner fire that burns with the will to try again, even after confronting the depths that Scorpio has shown. A wave of energy is a breath of fresh air in these challenging times.
This Full Moon highlights themes of learning, communication, and relationship (through its Gemini polarity). It invites us to expand—intellectually, spiritually, and relationally. We might ask ourselves: where is life asking me to expand beyond my current perspective? Where can I invite more hope into my life—and how can I sustain it? How do connection, learning, and dialogue support my growth?
Discovery ideas and new perspective, flirting with new meaning is likely to foster the possibility of envisioning new possibilities for ourselves and communities.
Saturn in Aries, especially for those with planets in Aries, Libra, Cancer, and Capricorn (roughly 4°–15°), may bring themes of time, responsibility, and authority into sharper focus.
Those with planets or angles between 0-3 degrees in Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo and Pisces are likely to feel both the Full Moon at the end of May, and the revolutionary transit of Uranus in Gemini, more intensely.
