Welcome to the Green Issue of the Peacock Planner

As part of NBC Universal's overall commitment to eco-friendly content production, improved energy efficiency, and environmental awareness, NBCU is creating a week long global event that will take place November 4th- November 10th.

NBC Universal's programming, both scripted and unscripted, will adopt green-friendly and environmentally oriented messages across all national and local properties to promote the crucial issue of ecological awareness.

Green Week Sponsors
will have a major presence across the significant Green is Universal umbrella elements which extend throughout the NBCU participating platforms Access Hollywood, Bravo, CNBC, iVillage, MSNBC, Mun2, NBC.com, NBC Daytime, NBC Primetime, NBC Late Night, Nightly News, Sunday Night Football Today, Sci-Fi Channel, Sundance Channel, Telemundo, USA Network, Universal HD, Universal Film Studio & Theme Park, WeatherPlus, and NBC Television Stations.

Today is taking an unprecedented look at our home, Planet Earth. Today anchors will be dispatched -- literally -- to the ends of the earth to explore the extraordinary diversity of life on this planet -- the climate extremes, the wildlife, and the limits of human exploration. Matt Lauer will travel to the very top of the globe, the Arctic, and broadcast from remote locations on the Greenland ice sheet; Ann Curry will travel to the very bottom of the globe, Antarctica, and broadcast from extreme locations including the McMurdo Research Station located at the southern end of "The Ice"; Al Roker will travel to the Equator and broadcast from the middle of an endangered cloud forest in Mindo, Ecuador, 7,000 feet above sea level; Meredith Vieira will connect the global dots from Today's home base in New York where she will take a look at how the global issues at these unique locations are affecting people across the United States.

The adventure, which is part of NBC Universal's Green Is Universal initiative, begins Monday, November 5, and will continue through Friday, November 9.

The Big Move

NBC Universal is on a high-tech, green consolidation streak that extends from the newly constructed NBC News world headquarters at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in Manhattan, to long-term plans for a similar approach for housing NBC News' Los Angeles bureau, network-owned KNBC-TV and KVEA-TV and "Access Hollywood."

The West Coast facility will be the anchor tenant in the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's Red Line Subway Station in Universal City, directly across the street from Universal Studios and Universal Studios Hollywood theme park and CityWalk. The location, still in the design and environmental review stage. The new facility is meant to be an example of sustainable green design, construction and transit-oriented development. A rendering of the potential new West Coast facility is shown. Source: TVWeek

Green Tip

TURN OFF THE LIGHTS (even in your office) and small electrical appliances including radios and TVs. It seems like such a no-brainer, but it's surprising how many times we forget. It all adds up to savings.
