The Oak Ridge Boys are back with an all-new album… back to the traditional, four-part harmonies on which they were founded… back to the “rootsy” sounds of the outlaw music days on Music Row… and back with their timeless ability to stay on the cutting edge.

That cutting edge has partially been honed by Los Angeles-based, acclaimed, pop producer Dave Cobb, who teamed up with the Oaks to create a magic that is unexpected, yet familiar. The Oaks and Cobb went into this project with the excitement of a band approaching their first recording, with a youthful energy and with songs written by some of the best contemporary writers today, including artist/songwriters Jack White, Shooter Jennings, Jamey Johnson, Neil Young and Ray Lamontagne, and well as seasoned ORB songsmith, Dallas Frazier, who penned their megahit Elvira.

The Boys Are Back is available from standard music outlets on May 19, 2009. Preorders are being taken at AMAZON, WWW.AMAZON.COM

Everybody’s talking…

Hell freezes over and in related news, The Oak Ridge Boys cover The White Stripes… The first country artist, and in my opinion, perhaps the most unlikely artist to cover “Seven Nation Army,” but it totally works. ~ Matt Wardlaw, http://addictedtovinyl.com/blog

The Oak Ridge Boys' version of "Seven Nation Army" has to be the most interesting and fascinating single released so far in 2009. ~ Jennifer Webb, for About.com

This is a fully fleshed out album by a group looking forward. ~ http://www.villagerecords.com/product_info.php?products_id=5636

“Seven Nation Army“ is a song with an incredible bassline and crushing vocals, and The Oak Ridge Boys nailed it. ~ http://thatssofetch.com/2009/05/white-stripes-seven-nation-army-country-cover/

…if this song is an indication in what to expect from the vocal quartet and their upcoming album "The Boys Are Back," then their album is going to be one of the biggest surprises of 2009. ~ Matt Bjorke, http://www.roughstock.com/blog/oak-ridge-boys-seven-nation-army/

BILLBOARD MAGAZINE REVIEW

Seven Nation Army

The Oak Ridge Boys swap their classic country-gospel for a little "Get Behind Me Satan" with this White Stripes cover fully directed at a new, and probably bloggy, audience. But while at first glance it has all the major warning signs of a quick ironic tweet, it doesn't take long to realize that it's a winning performance of a great song. The Boys' briefly dark barbershop vocals are dead-on and the looming piano has a sinister dark-basement vibe about it—there's even a pretty serious guitar solo. These guys are used to singing about heaven, but this is a surprisingly striking glance the other way. The group's new album, "The Boys Are Back," also includes covers of John Lee Hooker, Neil Young and Ray LaMontagne. —Jeff Vrabel, Billboard Magazine, May 16, 2009
