"The American Virtuoso" honors the tradition of virtuoso piano composition and performance with three of America's three seminal composer: Samuel Barber, Philip Glass and Joan Tower. Included in this recital is the monumental Barber Sonata, Barnes' solo piano transcription of Glass second piano concerto, and two pieces from Joan Tower's "No Longer Very Clear."

Wendy Sutter - "Songs and Poems for Solo Cello"

Cellist Wendy Sutter explores Philip Glass' compositions for solo cello in this new disc from Orange Mountain Music. Composed for Sutter, "Songs and Poems for solo cello" was written in 2006 and premiered in New York in 2007. This music is Glass at his most personal and expressive, also includes four pieces written for the film Naqoyqatsi. These "Tissues" are for Cello, percussion and feature the composer on piano.
