March 2008

Art By Dan K.
Next show at the Annex with Swoon, Prison Pretty, America's Sweetheart, Tuesday, April 22nd
We are really excited about this because we got to pick all these bands that we like to play the bill with us, and there's a healthy serving of guy/girl-powered indie rock heading your way. We really need your support at this one, it's a great club that we want to play again, and the Deli mag contest feature (see below) will likely be sending us some new ears so do us a favor and show these new kids how much you love your Automatic Children and we will do our best to bring them back too by rocking their socks. Here's the lineup:

8p Swoon
8:45p America's Sweetheart
9:30p Automatic Children
10:15p Prison Pretty

Doors at 730. The show is $8 and is 21+. The club is located at 152 Orchard Street in Manhattan on the Lower East Side. (between Stanton and Rivington)

The Deli Magazine Best Emerging NYC Bands of 2007 Issue
It's almost here, on the street. The Deli (our favorite local music mag) did a contest in early January where many of you voted for Automatic Children as your favorite emerging NYC band of 2007. (Thanks, by the way.) The issue comes out later this month and features a small interview with Adam on the band. We are thrilled about getting the opportunity to introduce all of the Deli's readers to our band. It's a FREE publication - pick it up at many clubs and bars and shops in Manhattan, Brooklyn and more.

Attorney for the Damned - Rock Musical
Rob McCulloch of Supple (the band that schooled Adam on how to rock, and producer of our debut EP "It's not me, It's you") has spent the last year composing the score for a rock musical our friend Denis - owner of KGB Bar, Red Room theatre, and Kraine Theatre in the East village - wrote based on his book "Attorney for the Damned." Teddy and Adam spent much of the last year sitting in and playing on recording sessions with Rob as he put together over 40 initial songs. It also includes our friend and Supple member Jessica Lynn as well as Pat Mattingly (who did the harmonies on Adam's song "Broke My Heart") and Denny Blake, accomplished guitarist on the Broadway hit "Movin Out," based on the life of Billy Joel. Besides bass, Teddy is also playing one of the characters. Adam will be in all shows joining Rob on guitar except the three Saturdays in March. Teddy will be playing every show. It will be presented March 13 to April 30 at the Kraine Theater, 85 East Fourth Street, Manhattan.

Automatic Children Interview and Rockwood Music Hall Footage
It was a busy last few months for the band with lots of interviews and coverage and of course our rocking January 22nd set at the Rockwood Music Hall. Brooklyn Rocks blog's Mike Little interviewed the band for a full 10 minutes of Q&A pre-show action. Then, he filmed 1/2 the set. Click the link below to see us performing our fan favorite, "Pity Party."
