Forum publishes "Open Letter to Episcopalians" in SC Press

Episcopalians from all regions of the Diocese responded with praise to the Open Letter and expressed their support for The leadership of Episcopal Church which is under attack by the Diocese of SC.

The special Diocesan convention elected Mark Lawrence over two other ANC pledged candidates. All candidates supported separation from the Episcopal Church in their presentations prior to election.

The EFSC Board will continue the important educational thrust of the Forum. The Forum assists Episcopalians throughout the Diocese who are concerned about the separation occurring between the leadership of this Diocese and The Episcopal Church.

Charleston Forum scheduled for luncheon on 9/28/06

The Board of Directors of the Forum has meets monthly followed by a luncheon usually attended by an additional 25 - 30 individuals interested in a participating in a Forum. There will be room for up to 70 participants at the next Forum which will be held from 12 -2 pm at the Holiday Inn in downtown Charleston (corner Meeting & Calhoun). A lively discussion of Episcopal life in the Diocese and the Nation is assured.

Future forums in other cities and at varying times will be announced.

Jo Ray and Scott Shaffer elected Directors of the Episcopal Forum

Jo was confirmed in 1969 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in her hometown of Louisburg, NC. Since 2004, she and her husband, Mike, have been members of St. Stephen's in Charleston. She is currently a member of the Altar Guild and also serves as an usher.

Scott was confirmed fifty years ago in the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina. A member for over thirty years at St. Helena’s-Beaufort, he has served as Sunday school teacher, co-chair of ad hoc committees, diocesan convention delegate and for several terms as vestry member and warden. More recently, he has been serving as warden for St. Mark’s Chapel, a Beaufort house church.
