From Chick Moorman and Thomas Haller

Creating Great Kids Now

How do I get my kid to behave?
What do I do about sibling rivalry?
I can't get my five-year-old to stop hitting.
My twelve-year-old has started talking back to me. What do I do now?
Do you have any tips on getting kids to do homework?

This is only a small portion of the questions we have received from readers of our parenting newsletter and from participants who have attended our parenting seminars throughout the world.

Yes, we answer as many of your questions as we can in our insightful Response-Able Parenting Newsletter. Of course there are answers in our helpful and practical books, Parent Talk: How to Talk to Your Children in Language That Builds Self-Esteem and Encourages Responsibility and The 10 Commitments: Parenting with Purpose.

Still, the questions keep on coming. Would it benefit you to know the answers?

What do I say to a coach who yells at my child?
How do I stop perfectionism in my bright fourth-grader?
My kid keeps getting up at night. How do I handle that?
My toddler has begun to swear. Any ideas?
My teen just wants to play video games all day. How do I stop that?

Have you ever noticed that as you get control of one parenting challenge another one seems to arise? When you get the whining under control, arguing begins. When your teen stops leaving wet towels on the bathroom floor, she takes your hairbrush and forgets to return it. When interrupting wanes, yelling takes over. It seems at times as if there is no end to parenting challenges. What if there were a handful of parenting techniques that if mastered fully could successfully address each of these challenges?

How do I handle poor sportsmanship in my youngster?
My daughter bites her nails. What can I do?
My son bites his sister. How do I handle that?
My children don't listen to me. Help me please.
How do I handle a well-intentioned grandparent who overindulges my children?

Would it be helpful to you to know how to prevent these situations before they arise? Why not get out your child's owner's manual, look it up, and do some troubleshooting? Seriously, wouldn't it be great if children came with an owner's manual? They don't. And even if they did, they would all need a different one. And would it always work? Probably not.

Major Question: So what's a concerned parent to do?
Major Answer: Use one of us as your own private parent coach.

That's right, both of us, Chick Moorman and Thomas Haller, are making ourselves available on a limited basis to do telephone-based coaching for parents on how to raise responsible, caring, confident children in enlightened and loving ways.

Yes, you can indeed bring an experienced parenting coach into your home on a regular basis. And this coach can help you handle daily parenting frustrations and turn those real-world concerns into satisfying conclusions that bring joy and peace into your family.

What parent coaching is not
You will not learn how to make parenting easy, convenient, or time-efficient.

You will not learn how to parent without making any changes in your life.

This coaching is not about what happens to you as a parent. It is about who you decide to become because of what happens to you as a parent.

Parent coaching is not therapy and is in no way intended to replace appropriate therapy where needed. It is parenting education at its finest.

Who needs coaching?
Sometime during the 18-22 years we spend in purposeful parenting we can all benefit from the advice and encouragement of an attentive, non-judgmental coach. Especially from someone who delivers practical ideas that work!

Major league baseball players have coaches. There is a fielding coach as well as one for hitting, pitching, and base-running. There is even a coach to help these professionals master the mental aspects of the game. If the best baseball players in the world, who have been trained their entire lives to play baseball, can benefit from a coach, so can we who often have had little training in this sacred and important role of parenting children.

Who are the coaches?
You can choose from two of the world's foremost authorities on raising responsible, caring, confident children: Thomas Haller or Chick Moorman.
