Foreword to Teaching the Attraction PrincipleTM to Children
by Jack Canfield
A friend commented to me the other day that I have been part of the two biggest phenomena in the furthering of the human potential movement in the past twenty years—the creation of the Chicken Soup for the Soul® series and the release of the blockbuster movie and the publication of the bestselling book The Secret. Well, I do indeed feel blessed to have been a central part of those two projects, which have allowed me to contribute to the lives of tens of millions of people around the world and have led to an incredible journey and life for me and my family. One of the most fulfilling and fun parts of that journey has been traveling all over the world teaching seminars and speaking at “Secret Conferences” with many of the other teachers from The Secret.
As we speak at these conferences, all of us (Lisa Nichols, Bob Proctor, John Assaraf, Reverend Michael Beckwith, John Gray, James Ray, Lee Brower, Marie Diamond, Marci Shimoff, Hale Dwoskin and the others) are always approached afterwards by people asking us what’s the best way to teach children about The Secret—the law of attraction and how it works. Up until now we have only been able to say, “Show them the movie and ask them to talk about how they think they could apply the basic ideas to their life. Have them set some goals, create a vision board, visualize and use affirmations.” Most of the people had already done that. They wanted more. They wanted a set of simple principles, effective practices and easy-to-use strategies they could apply on a daily basis. Well, finally, with the publication of this book, they (and you) have the answer to the question. And what a wonderful book it is!
I have known Chick Moorman for almost thirty years. He has been writing books and conducting workshops for parents and teachers longer than anyone I know in the human potential movement. He has a dedication to parents, teachers and children that is unsurpassed. I have only known Thomas Haller for a few years, but his dedication and commitment to making a difference are equal to Chick’s. I am thrilled that they have taken the time to develop and test out these ideas with parents and teachers all across the country, teach them in their seminars and workshops, and now present them in this book.
This book will teach you how to both intentionally and spontaneously apply these strategies with children of all ages—preschool to high school—both at home and in the classroom. You will learn how to teach and how to facilitate the application of the basic principles of living an intentional, purpose-filled life, creating the results you want, and ultimately contributing to a world that works for everyone. Chick and Thomas have made these ideas simple to understand and easy to apply. There are tons of great ideas that you can begin to use immediately. I still have two sixteen-year-old boys and a thirteen-year-old girl living at home, and after one quick read through the book, I found myself applying some of the ideas and techniques with my own children—and I teach this stuff every day! Like me, I know that you will find a lot of practical wisdom between the covers of this book.
I send you my love and my best wishes for successfully applying the principles and techniques and creating a life filled with love, joy, and all of your dreams come true for yourself and your children.
