Seattle Art Museum Art of Jazz concert series in association with Earshot Jazz and KPLU 88.5 FM present A Valentine's Day Jazz Celebration with the Dmitri Matheny Group. Dmitri Matheny flugelhorn, Nick Manson (photo) piano, Chris Higgins bass, Robert Rushing drums, Jim Wilke master of ceremonies. The concert will be recorded live for radio broadcast on KPLU. The downtown Seattle Art Museum offers an outstanding permanent collection and notable special exhibits. Songs Without Words
Since their 1998 debut at New York's Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, the classically-trained jazz duo of Darrell Grant (piano) and Dmitri Matheny (flugelhorn) has solidified their reputation as "pioneers and champions of the chamber jazz movement" (Public Radio International). The duo appears on major concert stages and festivals around the country, following in the footsteps of legendary teams of touring entertainers who pioneered the art of duo performance: Williams & Walker, Sissle & Blake, Mitchell & Ruff, Armstrong & Hines.
