Blues Challenge

Winners Crowned

 

 

 

The Blues Foundation's 29th International Blues Challenge concluded Saturday with an afternoon twin bill at the Orpheum Theatre. 

 

The solo/duo winner was Little G Weevil, sponsored by Atlanta Blues Society and second place honors went to The Suitcase Brothers 

a duo from the Barcelona Blues Society in Spain. 

 

The top prize in the Band competition was awarded to the Selwyn Birchwood Band of the Suncoast Blues Society. Second place honors were earned by Michael van Merwyk and Bluesoul, German Blues Network, and the third spot went to Dan Treanor's Afrosippi Band w/ Erica Brown, hailing from the Colorado Blues Society.  MORE...>>

Northwest Arkansa

 

 

 

Be part of America's heritage by celebrating Blues music and the artists who perform the classic American genre. The 11th annual “Blues in the Natural State” festival is coming to Fayetteville, Arkansas on Friday and Saturday, April 5 and 6, 2013.

 

Sponsored by The Ozark Blues Society of Northwest Arkansas, this year’s festival features an outstanding line-up of Blues music representing the best of local, regional, national and world-stage musicians.   Appearing at the festival this year: John Lee Hooker Jr., Super Chikan and the Fighting Cocks, 2012 IBC solo winner Ray Bonneville, Earnest 'Guitar' Roy, Sonny Moorman, Lucious Spiller, Mark 'Muleman' Massey, RJ Mischo and many more.

 

Two days. Six venues. More than twenty acts in all. Dickson Street will come alive with the sounds of America’s original music. You have an opportunity to be part of American Blues history by supporting the festival, which will help keep the blues alive. 

 

Blues music lovers will find festival acts at George’s Majestic Lounge, the Rogue, Smoke & Barrel Tavern and Kingfish Dive Bar.

 

Stay tuned as more details will be released as they develop including, information on advanced ticket sales.

OBS Board Meeting Notice

On February 20th, The Ozark Blues Society will hold it's Annual Board Meeting.

 

The Meeting will take place in the Tap Room on the 2nd floor of Hog Haus located on Dickson Street in Fayetteville and, will begin at 6:30pm.

 

The terms of President and Treasurer are up for election and there are several other folks who are interested in serving on the board as members.

 

This meeting is open to our members.  In order to vote, you must be a member in good standing.  If your membership has expired, you'll be able to renew at the meeting.  If you are interested in attending the meeting, please email webmaster@ozarkbluessociety.org as we need to provide the venue with a count of how many people we are expecting.

Open Mic Night at MDA Studios

Come out and play some Blues!

 

The Ozark Blues Society of NWA will be holding an Open Mic Blues Progam for youth on Friday, February 15th.

 

This family friendly event is hosted by the Ozark Blues Society at MDA Central Casting Studios inside the NWA Mall in Fayetteville (next to Sears). 

 

Come early and get a seat and on the CALL LIST to perform.

 

Signups begin at 6:30pm

 

Music begins at 7:00pm

 

Just bring your guitar, harmonica, drum sticks and your voice... Drums, guitar amps, keyboards and PA will be provided.

 

All ages and skill levels welcome.
