From the creators of the Asheville Hot Chocolate 10K comes the fast and flat, Farm 2 Table 5K - Farmers Market and Family Festival
|
The Asheville Track Club presents the Farm 2 Table 5K - Farmers Market & Family Festival. This event aims to educate the community about of the benefits of combining healthy foods, sourced through local farmers, with fitness and fun. Located in Fletcher Community Park, the event will be an evening for runners as well as families. Come out, learn about local farmers markets, listen to live music, play at the festival and participate in a fitness event. Proceeds from the event will benefit Asheville Track Club programs as well as FEAST (Fresh, Easy, Affordable, Sustainable, and Tasty) of Asheville whose mission it is to promote healthy eating choices and make them accessible to people of all income levels through hands on cooking classes that encourage and empower participants by teaching skills needed to make fresh, wholesome and tasty food.  | This flat, flat, flat, PR-friendly 5K will be chip-timed and is part of the 2014 Asheville Track Club Grand Prix series. The race begins at 6:00 p.m. The course is mixed surface. Top runners will receive $200 gift certificates to local farm to table restaurants, such as The Junction!
Preregister for the Farm 2 Table 5K online at farm2table5k.com until June 25th (5K: $25; Youth 5K: $20). ATC members receive a $3 discount (if you haven’t received the discount code, please follow up with ATC).

 | One Mile Farm Fun Run & Firefly Dash
|
The Kids Mile Farm Fun Run and Firefly Dash will start about 7:00 p.m. The Mile Farm Fun Run is limited to children 12 and under while the Firefly Dash is limited to children 6 and under - although parents can run alongside for free, of course! All children will receive an award for finishing. The exact course has yet to be laid out.
Bring the kids to the festival to learn, play, and then RUN!!! Kids races are $10 until June 25th.

 | Farmers Market, Family Festival & Food Trucks
|
The farmers market will be offering a bounty of locally produced foods by a dozen or so hand-picked vendors. The family festival will include live music by Fritz Beer and the Crooked Beat, hula-hooping, water fun (so bring a towel), games, and food-centered activities hosted by FEAST (Fresh, Easy, Affordable, Sustainable, and Tasty) of Asheville.
In addition to the farmers market, there will be several Farm to Table food trucks onsite, including Gypsy Queen Cuisine, 3 Suns Bistro, & Roaming in the Raw for runners and families to enjoy a tasty dinner.
The festival will run from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
