Blues News You Can Use!
 Finally Summer!
Summer seems to finally be in place
over Northwest Arkansas. Most of the patios have schedules posted and
the amazing Eureka Springs Blues Weekend is right around the corner with its amazing opportunity to step up and support the animals at Turpentine Creek while you get your blues fix. What a deal! The following weekend brings us the Fort Smith Riverfront Blues Festival and then just a week after that we are being treated to the first annual Hot-Dam Blues Festival in Bella Vista. With a great
group of music oriented people and organizations focusing on bringing
more live music to Bella Vista it will
be a not to be missed event for
the 4th of July weekend.

This week I saw a couple events posted on Facebook that were not listed in any of the music calendars and venue sites I use to compile my listings (including Powerhouse Party on the Patio this week.) It always breaks my heart to not be able to get the word out about these gigs. Usually when I see them pop up on Facebook it is after the newsletter goes out.  So if you are a musician or fan of a band please consider taking time to drop me an email. I want this newsletter to
offer you the information you, the reader, finds helpful. Send any
ideas or comments to me anytime at:

Next Weekend!
Eureka Springs Blues Weekend
Have you looked?  The lineup for the 2016 Eureka Springs Blues Weekend is nothing short of AMAZING!! It kicks off on Thursday evening with Damon Fowler and keeps going all weekend with the main stage at Turpentine Creek and partner stages all around town.

The blues weekend in Eureka is only a week away but it's not too late to make plans to attend. Hearing awesome blues and supporting the protection of amazing animals through the partnership between Eureka Springs Blues Weekend and Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge is a win-win opportunity. 2016 Ozark Blues Society Blues Challenge
As the summer kicks off be assured the Ozark Blues Society Board kicks into gear working behind the scenes to start preparing for our annual fall event, the Ozark Blues Society Blues Challenge. With the date locked down for October 19, 2016 at Georges Majestic Lounge, look for an announcement soon more details including how to enter.
Just in case we have any new readers unsure as to the purpose of this event, it is the competition that is used to select the band and solo/duo acts we will send to Memphis for the International Blues Challenge.  Bands and solo/duo acts who desire to compete in Memphis must win in a local competition sponsored by a blues society that is an affiliate of the Blues Foundation. Each affiliated society is allowed to send one band, one solo or duo, and one youth act.

You have to open your mind. I like the ability to express myself in a deep way. It's the closest music to our humanity - it's like a folk music that rises up out of a culture.

"The idea of 'Spoonful' was that it doesn't take a large quantity of anything to be good. If you have a little money when you need it, you're right there in the right spot, that'll buy you a whole lot."
