 And the winner is....
On Wednesday night amid the lightning flashing, thunder clapping and trains rumbling down the tracks beside George's Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville Ozark Blues Society welcomed an enthusiastic crowd who came to cheer on one of the ten acts taking the stage for our 2016 Blues Challenge. The event functions as a preliminary round
for bands seeking to be sponsored
by a Blues Foundation Affiliate in order to compete in the 2017 International Blues Challenge in Memphis in January. This year we had a full roster of amazing local
and regional bands. Read on
below for the low-down on who
won the competition!

Most outdoor music has wrapped
up but this week's calendar is still
full of live music opportunities. Remember to send any ideas or comments to me anytime at:

Blues Challenge Winners!
Everyone who attended our Blues Challenge this past Wednesday night was amazed at the level of talent that took the stage. First the solo/duo acts, then band after band of high quality blues! As always the night ends with the announcement of the acts (one from each category) that will move forward to the quarter-finals of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. This year our acts came not only from here in Northwest Arkansas, but many from the OK/MO/KS region as well.  Our winners represent that mix.  Moving forward to Memphis in the solo/duo category is a group from Hot Springs, Arkansas...
Jackie B and Me

Moving forward in the band category is a band from Missouri, the...
Sister Lucille Band

You have to open your mind. I like the ability to express myself in a deep way. It's the closest music to our humanity - it's like a folk music that rises up out of a culture.
