A Note from Laurey
I'm here.  St. Augustine.  I'm in my motel room.  It's early and no one else is up.  I'm now used to being up at first light, getting in my bike clothes, eating, and getting on my bike.

Not today.

Today is Friday and I will not ride today.  Tomorrow my sisters will drive me home and on Sunday I will ride my bike again, into town, to Jubilee, to the shop (for some French toast!) and then home again.

After that we'll see.

Not riding my bike today is the beginning of an adjustment to a different way of taking each day.  I've written a lot about this, on my blog, on my Facebook page (Laurey Bikes) and to myself.

For starters, I write this to you today.  Telling you I will be home soon.  I have you in my thoughts.  I see each person who works with me at Laurey's and wonder how everyone is.  I know things must be different for everyone.  Things happen in a two month stretch.  They sure have for me.  I look forward to hearing the stories of home.

I look forward to catching up with my friends.  To seeing how things look in Asheville.  To riding my bike, for that matter, with my bike riding buddies at home.  I have new bees at home and I am curious to meet them.  I look forward to hugging my dog and my cat and to hearing all of their stories too.

I'm going to go get a few new pots and a couple of flats of red geraniums and I am going to fill up those pots with those geraniums and things will look pretty bright in short order.  I am very fond of red things, geraniums chief among them.

I'm also going to put my notes in order and think about what to do with them all, what to do with all these new thoughts.  What to do with all the lessons I have learned.

And then I'm going to have a birthday, pretty soon, and the Tulip Poplar will be in bloom and the bees will be very busy.  I want to make sure they make it this year and I'm going to do everything I can to help them.

And it will be good to settle in to work, to the projects I have going.  We've talked about some things that we might want to do and, now that we've all had a little bit of time to think about them, it will be good to see how we decide to progress.  You, as you might guess, will be the first to know.

For now, well, I'm going to just do some thinking today.

I'll see you pretty soon.

Love,
Laurey
