Court Hearing Set for Dec. 4 on Rivers Coalition Lawsuit;Don't Miss Year's Final RC Meeting on Oct. 29
What may be the decisive hearing in the Rivers Coalition Defense Fund's federal lawsuit seeking to end ruinous discharges into the St. Lucie Estuary is now set for 1 p.m. Dec. 4.

Court of Federal Claims Judge Lynn Bush at that time will hear motions for summary judgments from both the Rivers Coalition Defense Fund and defendant U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Although the hearing is in Washington, D.C., it would be helpful for as many citizens as possible to make the trip. While you're there, winter scenes and places to visit are superb at that time of year in the nation's capital.

See the RC website for more info on the lawsuit and developments.

Plan Now to Attend Final RC Meeting of the year on Oct. 29 With Presentation on What's Proposed to Tame Water Pollution
What's happening to stem the polluting flow of bio solids into the drainage canals and estuaries?

Chad Kennedy, the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation's program director for watershed planning, will provide an update on the state's anti-pollution efforts at the final 2009 meeting of the Rivers Coalition at Stuart City Hall.

Are TMDL's (total minimum daily loads) ever going to be set and enforced? Are county governments doing their best to help stop the excess nutrients that degrade the rivers?

Kennedy and staffers will face sharp questions from RC "river rats" so this should be an informative and important meeting.

There's plenty of free parking and coffee and donuts will be available for the 11 a.m. Oct. 29 session.

The River cries for your support.
