Santa Dog
I thought you might like to see what it looked like to be at Asheville's Holiday Parade last week. It went right up Biltmore Avenue - quite the spectacle it was.  I skipped in and out, visiting with friends, waving to people in the parade, enjoying the warm afternoon and the noise and hubbub.

Gotta love Asheville.

Local Color Floating By
There was a snazzy red Cadillac driven by someone who wanted to take backstage to the beauties in the backseat.  The beauties yelled "We Love Laurey's!" as the driver rolled along, waving too.  I could not see underneath the paper bag so the mystery of his identity will remain just that.

Do you have these?
We had a whole tractor section.  All the colors of the rainbow (almost).  Grandfathers drove.  Grandchildren rode, waved, laughed.  They'd shined 'em up and my they glistened.

Then come pick up between 3:00 and 8:00. (Or bring a gang and enjoy your dinner right here. We do have beer and wine by the glass, you know.)

Casseroles for the month

Shopping Carts in Formation
Our parade had a formation of shopping carts.  The marchers smiled.  The spectators clapped.  On they went.

How about these?
I've seen one of these at tax time but someone gave them the heads up and they all showed up to march.  Lovely.

Golf anyone?
I guess the latest thing is golfing with llamas.  Have you heard of this?  I had not.  My first question was, "Does the llama say which club to use?"

Makes ya think, doesn't it?

A note from Laurey
I write to you from Kentucky this week. I’m at my sister’s house, writing while the rest of the household prepares for our Thanksgiving Dinner. It is Saturday. This is how we do it around here. See, everyone goes to their families on Thanksgiving and then they all come to my sister’s on Saturday. This has become our own tradition and it now seems normal.

Yesterday we went out for lunch, to a Lebanese restaurant. And dinner was Indian. Very international. We visited neighbors on Thursday, as it turned out, so tonight’s dinner will actually be our second Thanksgiving one. We’ll all take next week off from this, so it’s fun and fine to taste so many different things this week, at least that’s what we all say.

December is going to be a fun month at the shop. We’re starting to have live music on Thursdays. This Thursday there will be a jazz trio. The next, an old time duo, and then, a week later, a sweet singer/songwriter. We’ll see how this all goes. I’m pretty excited. I’ve even started to get calls from people who want to play with us. Sweet!

We’re still doing the music jams on Tuesdays (old time is the 1st and 3rd and Uke jams are on the 2nd and 4th) and the cooking classes on Wednesdays (the 9th is appetizers and sweets and the 16th is holiday sides). Lots of stuff going on.

I’m headed to Michigan this coming week to cook for a friend’s daughter’s Bat Mitzvah. It’s kind of a long way to go to cook, but he’s a dear friend and so it’ll be fun to be a part of his family’s festivities. And then when I come back we’ll be in full swing.

In the meantime, things are heating up around here. I am in charge of the tables and we just found out there will be two more guests so I need to go adjust things. And I need a shower and the dishes are piling up and that’s my job too. Whewf!

I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving time and are enjoying your day. Thanks for giving us the weekend off. It’s really nice to be this lazy. But I’ll be happy to come home in a day or so.

Talk to you next week!
Cheers,
Laurey

Thanksgiving 2009
We had a good Thanksgiving at work.  The kitchen gang got up early and cooked.  The office gang organized everything.  The shop gang greeted the guests as they came to pick up their dinners.

Jaime is leaving soon to go traveling so this is a final snap of her in bag packing mode along with Kris, Noel and Annie.  Now it's time to think of Christmas and winter holidays.  Here we go.
