The 2nd Annual
Boulder Roots & Blues Summit
May 18th – 19th, 2012
Celebrates Taj Mahal's 70th birthday with two nights of lively music
Taj Mahal is an icon of American song. To honor his impact on the Blues and beyond, the Boulder Roots and Blues Summit brings the man himself to The Boulder Theatre on Friday night to present him with a Lifetime Achievement Award. And there are rumors of at least one surprise guest.
Later that night, Taj's gifted daughter, Deva Mahal, joins Hope Waits and Canadian sensation, Treasa Levasseur, at the Fox Theatre for the Boulder debut of all three up‐and‐coming artists. In honor of these new Ladies of the Blues, women will be admitted free.
The celebrations continue Saturday with a free Blues‐in‐the‐Schools event for children of all ages. Blues Music Award‐winner Dan Treanor leads the event with Keb' Mo' lending a hand. Later that evening Keb' Mo' headlines with an acoustic performance at the Boulder Theatre followed by a night of Blues Rock at the Fox with Anders Osborne and Musketeer Gripweed.
The Boulder Summit continues a tradition started in 2011, spotlighting the legends and youngsters of Roots and Blues.
