JAZZ UNDER THE STARS
The Tucson Jazz Society's popular Jazz Under the Stars concert series concludes on Friday, October 26th, when the Dmitri Matheny Group appears at Tohono Chul Park.
The DMG will showcase this season's Jazz Noir program, offering a fresh spin on familiar movie themes from film noir, spy thrillers, and underworld crime dramas, plus a selection of new works, jazz classics and beloved standards from the Great American Songbook. One of the program highlights is Matheny's original suite "Crime Scenes," a dreamlike series of musical vignettes linked together with voiceover narration in the hard-boiled detective style of Raymond Chandler.
Named "one of the world's great botanical gardens" by Travel & Leisure, Tohono Chul Park is a family-friendly desert oasis where nature, art and culture connect. The park's grand outdoor stage offers the perfect setting for a magical evening of jazz under the stars.
