The Reggae Festival Guide with ......... |
On a thrilling Sunday afternoon, reporter Shelah Moody took the Reggae Festival Guide to the Grand Opening on the Sweet Bar Bakery in Oakland, CA, owned by Michael Jackson's former personal chef, Mani Niall, literally one of the sweetest guys you'll ever meet. Carol Johnstone, organizer of the Bay Area Flash Mob, choreographed a spectacular version of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" dance routine for the event. If you go, Ms. Moody recommends the muscavado ginger cookies and the salted carmel almond cake. www.sweetbarbakery.com.

3rd Annual Bob Marley's Birthday Bash – February 8th, 2012 at The Knitting Factory Reno |
This year to celebrate the birthday of the reggae legend Bob Marley, Jahzilla will be teaming up with some of Reno’s finest talent to bring a very special tribute to one of the most influential artists of our time. It’s no wonder. People cannot seem to get enough of Bob Marley’s music even thirty years after his passing. Along with Jahzilla, Reno’s own Polynesian roots reggae group Uprising will also be performing at the event. They are quickly growing in popularity even earned spots at festivals such as One Love, One Heart Festival in Sacramento and Lake Tahoe Reggae Festival last summer. Eph Bee Cee is an up and coming band from Reno that plays a Pacific Ocean-inspired strain of reggae that incorporates a variety of other genres and styles into the mix. They will be sure to get the party started right and get you moving your feet to their infectious rhythms and R&B infused vocals. DJ Too Dread of “The Reggae Shack” radio show will be keeping the dance floor going all night with a mix of roots reggae, dub and dancehall. This year’s Bob Marley’s Birthday Bash will definitely be a very special night to remember. Don’t miss it!

New Volkswagon Commercial ::: White Jamaican Guy is Funny - Not Racist |
|
Reggae superstar Sean Paul -- a native Jamaican -- is 100% cool with Volkswagen copping his homeland's accent for its new Super Bowl ad because it's funny as hell ... and not the least bit offensive. Current Grammy nominee Sean tells TMZ he doesn't understand why VW's catching heat for the spot -- featuring a white guy speaking in a Jamaican accent -- because it's "just entertainment." SP added it's in good taste, and "to me it's no different than the Italian accents in 'The Sopranos' or the English accent in Guy Ritchie's movies." Visit the TMZ Store: http://tmzstore.com. It will make us very sad if you do, and perhaps your removal will be the one the makes us decide this no longer worth doing at all, and all the information we provide will go away forever and musicians will sit home alone at night and cry because they have no one to play for because no one knows about their shows.
