The Reggae Festival Guide with .........

RFG reporter Shelah Moody caught up with eclectic band Freddy Clarke (center, guitar) and Wobbly World, who were a huge hit at the San Francisco Ballet Opening Night After Party/Gala at City Hall. Wobby World wins the award for the most international members, including musicians from the Ivory Coast, Cuba, Vietnam, Lebanon and Menlo Park, CA. Wobbly World attracted socialites and revelers to the dance floor with songs such as "Cha Cha," "Afro Cuban Lullaby," "Djugumen" and "I Phone." Caught dancing at the ball: Nancy Pelosi, Minority Leader of the United States House of Representatives; and her husband Paul Pelosi. Leave it to Ms. Moody to find one of the the only reggae artists at the ball, Heath Hunter, from England (with his manager and fiancee, Kerah Cottrell). Hunter worked on a project called "A Day In Trench Town."

Seems Like Revolution is On The Way

Hornsman Coyote's new song "Seems Like Revolution" was recorded live in December 2012 on the concert with the Balkan Music Box Riddim, and video is connecting reggae message with global fight against injustice and inequality.

When asked about the message and strong political engagement of the song Coyote replied: "I do not like to comment on my songs, I sing what I think and feel. I mean, if we all live in a global "belly of the beast" the need for change is obvious. After all the concerts I played in all parts of the world, I felt at home at this stage, relaxed with friends, and I'm so glad that you can see it in the video. I really hope that we will be in a situation to share this sound of peace and love everywhere. Because people are the same everywhere, with the very same problems, we all need to learn to share."

Richie B no longer at Hot 102 Fm in Jamaica?  Jamaican Radio Broadcaster Richard 'Richie B' Burgess is on the move

Having recently tendered his resignation to Hot 102 FM, where he hosted the Hot Mix Programme for the past ten years, Richard 'Richie B' Burgess will be joining the Mello FM family as the new host of their morning programme, MELLO Daybreak, starting on Monday March 04, 2013.

MELLO FM started in December 2003 as a limited area commercial radio station covering western Jamaica. In 2010 the station went island wide and has in a short time become the fastest growing radio station on the Island. Richie B is a longstanding broadcaster with over 25 years’ experience, who was once honored by the Reggae Music Achievement Awards of Canada as one of the greatest reggae talents and has consistently ranked among the most popular radio hosts in Jamaica. He has made numerous appearances at major events such as Reggae Sumfest, The Raggamuffins Festival in California, the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival as well as numerous other concerts the world over.

Well known for his weekly Jamaica Music Countdown Reggae, Dance Hall and Albums Charts and for conceptualising the Excellence in Music and Entertainment (EME) Awards, it is expected that Richie B will soon become a force to be reckoned with in morning time radio. He says, 'I'm highly motivated and energized to take on this new challenge in the only timeslot on radio that i've never worked in before. I'm confident that as I begin to unleash all the crazy and exciting ideas that I have devised for my listeners' pleasure and participation, me and my fans will fast become one big happy family.

In the interim Richie B has accepted an offer from Link Up Radio WVIP 93.5FM, New York City, to host the early morning show from 6:00am-10:00am Mondays through Fridays for a two week stint which started on Friday February 15, 2013 and will end on Friday March 01, 2013. He was heard interviewing the likes of Jimmy Cliff O.M., Freddie McGregor O.D. among others.

It will make us very sad if you do, and perhaps your removal will be the one the makes us decide this no longer worth doing at all, and all the information we provide will go away forever and musicians will sit home alone at night and cry because they have no one to play for because no one knows about their shows.
