Hi Everyone,
Don't forget that Chicago Israeli Dancing will have our pre-camp dance for Baketzev Acher on WEDNESDAY, March 5th at Mayer Kaplan JCC, 5050 Church Street, in Skokie. We are expecting a number of out-of-towners and various and assorted faculty members. :o) So save the date and location. Given that the camp starts on Thursday night, there will be no Thursday night dance in Skokie that week. Teaching will be from 7:30 to 9PM, led by Phil and Ofer and hopefully Shmulik and/or Dudu. Dancing will run from 9-11:30. Cost will be $11
Teaching will take place in the dance room. After that we move to the Gym!!
It would be great if people would bring some kosher/parve refreshments to help show Chicago hospitality to our out of town guests (and to make it nice for the rest of us too) :o)
*******************************************************
Looking forward to seeing you all at dancing ON WEDNESDAY this week!
Phil

Status Update From Irgun Hamadrichim Veyotzrim

I thought you might find this of interest. This is from the Israel-based organization for Israeli folk dance leaders and choreographers in Israel and abroad. [Phil]
2/10/14
Dear members,Last Friday, the organization's board convened to discuss and make decisions on matters that are important to all of us. At the meeting, a number of important issues were discussed.
First, Chairman Avi Peretz reported progress in the relationship with ACUM: The goal is to establish frameworks for members to work legally opposite the regulations of ACUM and the federations.
Another topic discussed and approved: An amazing weekend for members in Kibbutz Dalia, subsidized by the organization. The weekend will include workshops and other cultural activities, dancing, a Marathon and a major festive dinner, where we will award this year’s prize to a notable member (Yakir HaIrgun). Save the date - April 4th and 5th, 2014. Guidelines for registration and further information will be sent later.
Membership cards: In order to streamline the work of issuing membership cards and saving money, it was decided to purchase the special printer required.
For the purpose of making an agreement with ACUM and additional program expenses, the annual dues will be raised as follows:• Regular Dues: 300 NIS.• Dues for a Couple: 500 NIS. (A couple sharing a common household).• Senior Citizens: 150 NIS. (Women over the age of 62, men over the age of 67).• Dancers abroad: $60.
Payment for dues can be made by a bank transfer to a trust account named Avi Peretz and Raffi Kachlon, account number 18583/64, Bank Leumi Branch 662 Ashdod. After the transfer has been made, it is very important to scan the transfer document and email to irgunhamarkidim1@gmail.com, otherwise it will be difficult to associate the transfer to the transferor.
You can also pay by check payable to “Irgun HaMarkidim” and send by regular mail (not registered) to P.O. Box 3033, Ashdod, ISRAEL 77459.
We are happy to inform members that the organization’s office was established in the academic institution in Giv’at Washington (near Ashdod) which soon will be staffed by a secretary that will answer and handle all your inquiries. Details of office hours, email address, postal address and more will be updated in a separate announcement.
In addition to the above:• A Rules Committee was selected prior to the registration of the organization.• We remind you that the organization has established a Facebook page and members are invited to join.• The organization's website will undergo a significant upgrade in the near future.• A Children committee was formed (After school activities project) and two meetings were held.• We opened a training course for dance leaders of children, sponsored by the organization and led by Yael Jacoby• A committee was established to deal with copyright issues.Once again we ask the members to resolve all questions and inquiries via the organization's website: www.markid.co.il or through the Facebook page: Irgun HaMarkidim . You will get a quick response.Aliza Rosen – Irgun SpokespersonAvi Peretz - ChairmanMembers of the board: Shlomo Maman, Yoav Sidi, Avital Efrat, Raffi Kachlon, Dov Auerbach, Asher Weizmann, Nurit Melamed, Yair Harel, Shlomo Arussi, Aliza Rosen

Join our friendly group to connect with Israeli culture, enjoy some physical activity and sharpen your memory through Israeli folk dancing. We do plenty of circle and line dances, with some partner dances mixed in.
Most of the dances we do are beginner/intermediate level. All ages and experience levels are welcome, including children accompanied by a parent.
We meet almost every Monday with dances for beginners from 7 pm to 7:45 pm and then move on to intermediate dances until around 8:30. When time permits, we take a few requests from 8:30 to 8:45. Visitors are always welcome. Our regular dancers love to watch the more advanced dances. If visiting from out of town, we'll play requests if you tell us ahead of time.
Our partner dance repertoire is small and still growing. Women are encouraged (but not required) to learn both parts. The etiquette in our group is partner switching/partner rotation.
Open to the community. For security purposes, we ask that people joining for the first time contact the CBS office at (630) 961-1818, and ask for Dorothy, to let us know you are coming, and to make sure that we are meeting on that date.
