TABLE  OF  CONTENTS
Greetings from your Editor...
A Universe of blues goodness...
There are rabid blues fans around the world and it's always exciting for us to discover new-to-us artists, festivals and blues societies. Because the blues is ever-expanding, we're super excited to expand our own reach by launching the European version of our current website.

"I got the key to the highway, I'm raring to go."
("Key To The Highway" Charles Segar)

We'd love to hear about your unique blues festival adventures from around the world, whether you've traveled to or from the US. Tell us about a unique location that you've visited to experience blues; maybe you discovered a new artist there; maybe you had an unforgettable encounter with someone; maybe you were introduced to some unusual food or drink or custom; maybe you even performed at a festival in another country? A picture could even tell your special story. Feel free to email me at michele@bluesfestivalguide.com. Bring on the universal blues goodness!

By the way, The 2nd European Blues Expo will be held July 31 at the Bok & Blueshuset library in Notodden (Norway), and it will then be on display through August 2014.

Birthdays of note coming up: June 19 Jerry McCain (1930), Big Bill Morganfield (1956); June 20 Lazy Lester (1933); June 21 Skip James (1902); June 23 Helen Humes (1913); June 24 Jeff Beck (1944), Tad Robinson (1956); June 25 Clifton Chenier (1925), Eddie Floyd (1935); June 26 Big Bill Broonzy (1893 or 1898); June 28 David "Honeyboy" Edwards (1915), Armenter "Bo Carter" Chatmon (1892)

CD & DVD Releases
New release from the Mannish Boys ::
WRAPPED UP AND READY
From the beginning of the band six CDS ago, Randy Chortkoff has worked like the ringmaster of a three-ring circus, keeping one of the tightest all-around blues bands in the world today busy in the center ring, while performing amazing feats of coordination around them by spotlighting countless guest stars on each and every release. As a result the Mannish Boys have featured some of the best and brightest names in blues today, from the most seasoned veterans to the most exciting young talent, all carefully mixed and matched to field teams of artists perfectly in synch with one another on each song they take on.

Andy T & Nick Nixon new release :: LIVIN' IT UP
The blues has a history of great collaborations. Now it’s time to add Andy T and James “Nick” Nixon to that venerable list thanks to the red clay covered roots of Nick’s dynamic voice and Andy’s bold, vibrant tones and equally rooted guitar style. Nick in one of those amazing artists that rarely surface today. This velvet voiced singer was born and raised in Nashville and was part of the thriving Jefferson Street blues scene of the ‘60s. Nick was a Chess Records recording artist in the ‘70s and is a key figure in today’s reviving Nashville blues scene. “Andy T” Talamantez was born and raised in Southern California, and relocated to Nashville in 2008. Read more details here...

Alastair Greene Band new release ::
TROUBLE AT YOUR DOOR
Blues and rock have met at many different crossroads, From Cream and Johnny Winter to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Gov’t Mule these blues rock recipes are often boiled down to a simple trio. Such is the melting pot of influences and presentation of the Alastair Greene Band. Greene formed his first blues rock trio with former members of the legendary Southern California band The Pontiax in 1997. The Alastair Greene Band (AGB) has gone through several incarnations and line-ups over the years and has included alumni of the Steve Miller Band, Paul Butterfield Band, and Junior Wells Band. Read more details here...

The blues lost a good friend last month. Pete Special passed away, and The BluesMobile will take the opportunity to look back on his life and his music. Hear songs from his solo side, some of it recorded live at Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble, along with Pete's work with the great funky soul band, Big Twist and the Mellow Fellows.

A tribute to Pete Special. Next time in the Bluesmobile.
