TABLE  OF  CONTENTS
Greetings from your Editor...
A Blues bandage could loosen a lonely bondage
Sometimes I run across some bizarre "holiday" listings. Some are just plain silly but others do have poignant meaning. For instance, July 11th is "Cheer Up The Lonely Day." Well, I imagine everyone reading this would have some ideas of how to do that. The obvious solution for us blues lovers would be to share some music. Music can take you to another place and yes, blues is a healer. If you know of someone lonely, try wrapping a soothing Blues bandage around them, even if means playing a song over the phone. A lonely person may also enjoy some face-time so bring music to them personally or take them to the music.

"I am ready, ready as anybody can be. I am ready for you and I hope you're ready for me." (Willie Dixon)

I'm not so certain one can be completely lonely when they have music!

Birthdays of note: July 10 Mavis Staples (1939), Casey Bill Weldon (1909); July 11 Blind Lemon Jefferson (1897); July 15 Willie Cobbs (1932); Washboard Sam (1910), Millie Jackson (1944); July 16 Denise LaSalle (1939); July 17 Peppermint Harris (1925); July 18 Screamin' Jay Hawkins (1929), Lonnie Mack (1941).

CD & DVD Releases
Daunielle Hill :: DAUNIELLE
Daunielle was produced by multi-Grammy-winner Jim Gaines and recorded at Sonic Ranch Studios in Tornillo, Texas. This self-titled release is the Catfood Records debut of Memphis-based soul/blues singer Daunielle (pronounced “Dawn-Yell). Hill is backed on the album by the Catfood Records “house band,” The Rays, along with special guests Reba Russell and Tameka “BigBaby” Goodman on backing vocals.

Going into the studio for the first time as a solo artist, Daunielle was understandably a little nervous with anticipation, but quickly relaxed. “The sessions were amazing,” she exclaims. “The musicians and everyone in the studio were awesome and made me feel completely comfortable. It was a great experience for me and it couldn’t have turned out any better.”

Gaetano Letizia and The Underworld Blues Band ::
VOODOO DOLL AND OTHER BLUES LESSONS
B.B. King has famously said “The blues are a simple music. Anyone can play them. But would you want to hear anyone play them?” Singer, songwriter and guitarist Gaetano “Tom” Letizia from Cleveland is someone you most definitely want to hear play the blues. He takes the “simple” forms and re-imagines them with uncommon creativity, fusing funk, jazz and a streak of moral outrage into a fiery, unforgettable experience on his breakout release.

Gaetano Letizia and The Underworld Blues Band have conjured up Voodoo Doll and Other Blues Lessons. The twelve extraordinary originals are backed by Larry Keller (bass), Steve Renko (drums), Jake Tijerina (keyboards) and Bobby Huszar and Ro Brown (vocals).

July 12-13 Radio Show: BLUES BY THE NUMBERS

We do not think of the blues as a precise measuring system, but a great deal of addition and subtraction go into it. If you are shooting for a hundred, for instance, ninety-nine and a half just won’t do. You've got your 300 pounds of joy. And the time you can’t find your baby is generally three o’clock in the morning. Stick with us and we will crunch the numbers for you.

Blues by the numbers. Next time, in the Bluesmobile.
