“If you throw a boomerang the right way, it will come back,” explains Sardinas about the album’s title. “And life is similar to this game with a boomerang – you sit there with a broken heart,

Kenny Neal shows his appreciation for B.B. King with Tribute
Growing up as a kid, we always has BB King music in our home. I never thought, in my wildest dreams, that he would become a close friend. I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with him throughout the United States, the UK and Japan. I have great memories. He sent for me to come to his dressing room one night. I didn’t have a clue what he wanted. He told me, "Sit down son. I’ve been listening to your show the last couple of nights and what I heard was great. I like your music that your write, more than the covers songs that you sing and play.

Documentary hails producer’s role in roots music
Since 1960, Bay Area-based Chris Strachwitz has perhaps done more than anyone else to popularize American musical genres including country blues, zydeco, Cajun and Tex-Mex musics including Conjunto. His story is told in the new DVD “This Ain’t No Mouse Music: The Story of Chris Strachwitz and Arhoolie Records” (Kino Lorber) as well as a similarly titled 2-CD soundtrack (Arhoolie).

The title of this engaging 90-minute documentary alludes to Strachwitz’s dislike of manufactured pop and continuing deep passion for music rooted in local communities.

Strachwitz was born in 1931 to an aristocratic family in Lower Silesia, an area of Germany that became Poland at the end of World War II. The arrival of Soviet troops forced the departure of his family, and they eventually settled in California.

Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame to Induct Musicians plus D.C. Minner Rentiesville Blues Museum to Open
RENTIESVILLE, OK—The state of Oklahoma is known for the many famous musicians it has produced over the years and the contributions they have made to the music world. From Gene Autry and Patti Page to Garth Brooks and Carrie Underwood, the list is long and spans many years and genres. But perhaps less known is Oklahoma’s contribution to blues music.

In the small town of Rentiesville, 15 miles south of Muskogee, blues is alive and well, says Selby Minner, widow of blues great D.C. Minner. To honor blues music and its major contributors, the Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame will hold its Induction Gala on May 23 and induct seven Oklahoma blues musicians into the organization.

Kenny Neal :: "I Just Want To Thank You BB King"

Here’s a follow up note from Kenny since B.B. King’s recent hospitalization:
Hi BB,
I’m so happy you’re at home and doing well. I finished the song and the video. I remember when I was doing it, you sent a message to me telling me, “to get it right.” I did the best I could, with the little time I had. But I still can’t thank you enough for all that you have done for me over the years. So this is my way of showing my appreciation. Hope you enjoy it! I’m looking forward to sitting down and reminiscing again.
All the best Mr. King,
your friend, Kenny Neal
