Samantha Fish :: WILD HEART
Ruf Records recording artist singer-guitarist Samantha Fish is raising eyebrows with her third studio release, Wild Heart, produced by Luther Dickinson (The North Mississippi Allstars/Black Crowes). With Samantha on guitars and Luther on various stringed instruments, they rounded out the lineup with Grammy Award-winning Brady Blade (Emmylou Harris/Bob Dylan) on drums. Special guests include Lightnin Malcolm (guitar), Sharde Thomas (drums) and Memphis session singers Shontelle Norman-Beatty and Risse Norman. The result is a stunning representation of Americana roots music.

Wild Heart was recorded in three different studios, as they trekked the backroads from Louisiana to Mississippi in the fall of 2014. Starting at Brady Blade’s Shreveport, Louisiana studio, they laid the basic rhythm tracks and vocals. Find more details about this release

Front Porch Jubilee Celebrates Musical Heritage Sept 19
HERNANDO, MS - The Second Annual Front Porch Jubilee and Arts Festival is slated to kick off with a New Orleans-style Mardi Gras Parade at the historic Banks House on Saturday, Sept. 19, followed by scorching hot gospel and cool blues all afternoon and into the night at the Clifton Cotton Gin, adjacent to the old DeSoto County Jail on South Street.

Navy Pier: Sweet home for Chicago blues?
CHICAGO, IL - Want to find the blues? Take a drive through Chicago's North Kenwood neighborhood on the South Side. Look for the vacant two-flat at 4339 S. Lake Park Ave., the one with boarded windows and a tattered awning over the front stoop. That's where Muddy Waters lived for about 20 years, until the mid-1970s. Chicago historian Tim Samuelson calls it "Chicago's 'real House of Blues.'"

Head up to 2120 S. Michigan Avenue, once the home of Chess Records (now the Willie Dixon Blues Heaven Foundation). If you poke around near the Museum Campus, you'll find the obscure marker celebrating Chicago's place on the Blues Trail, the path that brought so many musicians here from the Mississippi Delta during the Great Migration.
